First of all, hop on over to Hyphen Interiors to see a then & now of our old dining room in our last house compared to this house’s dining room! Kristy is in the process of moving after selling their house the first weekend it was on the market (what does that tell you about her awesome style!). I am taking over for the day so she can tend to important matters, like moving. Thank you, Kristy, for having me!
Now, if you have been following me for a while, you know this is our first Christmas in this house as we have only been here for two months! So while the house is nowhere near being done by any means, it was not going to stop me from decking the halls! Some of these photos I have shared already, but there are some new ones, and I thought it would be great to give you the full view.
So check it out…. our new home decked out for Christmas 2011. Come on in, have some ginger snaps and coffee, and enjoy.
This year we put icicle lights on our porch, a wreath on each door, and faux garlands on the columns and railing (next year I would love to get REAL greenery).
I added some pillows with a little bit of red as well as a trimming from our tree to the bench by the side door (which is the one most commonly used) and leaned my vintage sled against the house.
A potted little fake tree sits on our bistro set by the front door.
By the front door we have a small entry way, which is decorated for the season with a cute stocking, a plate Emmy painted last year for us which features fake cookies, and a cute glittery Santa and tree, and a small yarn wreath I made last year.
Down the hallway, you can catch a glimpse of the “Holiday Art Gallery” my kids and I have created as a way to display their work from last year and this year.
These two pieces were from a day on the Advent Calendar which said to draw a picture of Santa. Sawyer drew his Santa with an elf, but it is not just any elf…. it is “Captain Elf”. Emmy drew what I like to call Samurai Santa. He seems to be wearing Asian influenced attire.
These are the two pictures from the day which had them drawing pictures of Rudolph. Sawyer’s is on the left where Santa is wearing a belt and Emmy’s on the right where Santa appears to be showing his belly button. I love the feet she added to Rudolph. I may be biased, but that girl is going to be very artistic. This wall might be one of my favorite areas of the house right now- it just makes me smile, and I think is going to be the permanent area to display their art as we always walk by it.
You have seen the living room and tree, but now the presents have been placed under the tree as well.
Here is the tree as it is now….
And here are some photos of the rest of the living room you may have already seen…
And you have seen the dining room which has a couple new additions, like the card display, and these glittered bulbs I made…
We have been having fun flipping over each day on our Advent calendar!
And some more pictures of the dining room you have seen….
Since it is the holidays and we will be having guests, I added some cheer to the guest room as well.
Ok, hopefully that was enough pictures for you. 🙂
Christmas is just 13 days away…. are you ready for it? I am so ready, but this year so far goes down as my favorite Christmas season with my kids. We have been having so much fun making memories in our new house, enjoying the season, spending time together. I wish I could bottle up December 2011 and keep it forever.
Today is the last of The DIY Club’s 12 days of Christmas series. Today, head over there to link up your multi colored painted Holiday projects!
