If you took part 1 of my home tour on Tuesday, you may have noticed a major change…. a new horse photo print in the dining room! I know some of you are probably still mourning the loss of my nautical gallery wall (last seen here), but I still have all of that art and plan to use it somewhere. Or just hoard it and be buried in a sea of seascapes. I loved so much about that wall but especially the calmness and the colors of the sea. What I didn’t love was the busyness… I wanted one statement piece to really make that wall and fit with both my kitchen and dining room as the spaces open to one another. Enter All Is Quiet from Minted…
Isn’t that photograph striking?
When shopping the photo art on Minted, I had a few stipulations and luckily their filters make it easy to narrow it down… I wanted an animal, and I wanted horizontal orientation to fill up the wall more.
All is Quiet (which for the love of me I keep wanting to call “All is Calm!” ) had everything I wanted… a beautiful animal photograph, the blue and greens I love, and natural colors in the horse itself. It’s the perfect piece to unify my space. This view below is from the kitchen looking into the dining room, and you can see the colors of the backsplash and the mints in my industrial cabinet mirrored in the background color of the photograph. And this view is from the kitchen looking into the dining room. It’s also a view of dog butts. You’re welcome. When choosing the frame for this piece, Minted had several options available, but I wanted to mimic the frames of my mirrors and bring in the gold so I chose their matte brass finish and I just love it. It’s the perfect toned down gold color for my space.I centered it over the dining room table, as you can see here. The focus is now on one large piece of art rather than all over the place. As you can see, that leaves me with an awkward space to the right. The whole reason I had a gallery wall was to hide the darn thermostat… Who puts a thermostat in the middle of a wall???? But luckily after chatting with my #howyouhome friends they helped me come up with a good solution I am working on and hope to share after the holidays. Oh, and that “Imagine” piece won’t be staying there… I just had a nail with no art, and a piece of art that was displaced from Christmas decor… so they were a match made in heaven.
I am so in love with this photograph and the clean, calm, modern feel it brings to our dining room. I think the photographer, Jenny Kupelian, captured the feel I wanted perfectly. You can shop the space here:
