Last week was a whirlwind of activity around my house with furniture shuffling, wall painting, mantle styling, and more. There are lots of partially done projects going on, and I don’t have one thing complete to show you; but if you follow me on instagram, you’ve been seeing everything I am up to. Since I don’t have anything totally done and ready to share, I thought I would take you on a little tour of snapshots from around the house.
With all of the shuffling, my mid century sideboard headed out of the house and off to Sweet Clover. I loved it, but I loved this dresser which was in the guest room so much more and knew I’d never find another like it. And as a friend pointed out, the two tonedpiece is on trend at the moment so sell it while it’s hot. 😉
And why did I take this dresser out of the guest room? Well, to be honest it wasn’t functioning as anything except a statement piece. It served no real purpose, and I’ve come to realize I need an office space. I typically work at the kitchen island, but I hate that I make a mess of my stuff there- camera, papers, receipts, etc. I wanted an office space that had decent natural light, on the main level of the house, and one I could shut the door to on those extra messy days. So I’m working on creating an office space in my guest room, and in the process I got rid of the black accent wall.
Before you panic, I didn’t paint over the black… I just painted all the other walls black, too! And I am so happy I did it- I’ve been wanting to paint them all for a while and glad to have it checked off my list. And the desk is already taken care of… this midcentury white and gold desk never sold, so now it’s all mine and perfect! Here is a little peek into the office space I am creating.
We’ve also made a major furniture change in the living room… we replaced one of our gray velvet sofas with a beautiful navy blue vintage velvet sofa. I planned to sell it at the barn, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. This sofa was the stuff of dreams, and my mother in law helped convince me I needed it. 😉 I’ve also rearranged furniture in there and am looking for one more piece to get it just right.
Also in the living room, I worked on bringing a little touch of Spring color to the mantle. I kept it very simple with aqua glass bottles, dried hydrangea stems, and my dipped and stripped DIY log candlesticks. Can you tell I was wearing a coral jacket when I shot this?
I was so excited to recently win a credit to Minted from Rhapsody in Rooms! I chose this amazing botanical print for the guest bathroom, which will be changing later this Spring. The colors in it are inspiring my palette- something a little different for me, but I’m excited to change it.
And finally, just because he’s cute…. While trying to take photos around here, this guy often photobombs. Jake hides from the camera these days, and Catcher, being the puppy, jumps into the shot. And why shouldn’t he? He’s adorable. And he’s potty trained so well and sleeps so well that he is finally getting his very own dog bed which will go in Sawyer’s room. They are both pretty excited about that.
I mean, just look at that face. I will leave you with that… some soft fuzzy sweetness for your day.
