I See a Brown Door and I want to Paint it White

Hopefully most of you got that Rolling Stones reference in the title… If you didn’t, look up “Paint it Black” by them. You won’t be sorry!
Anyhow, what do the Rolling Stones have to do with home decor? Not much, but if you recall I showed you my “master” bedroom last week. I was pretty darn happy with how it had evolved, but those darn ugly hollow brown doors were just nagging at me, especially after seeing the pictures….

everything was soft, white, gray, squishy, and comfy, and then there were those dark spots- the ugly doors. I got to work Friday priming them, and then painted them. It took several coats- all in all 3 coats of primer, and 2 of paint, but they are DONE. I didn’t worry about the door knobs so much because I plan to use some of that bronze spray paint and hit them all with that at some point. Anyhow, here is the room with its newly painted doors! Much better, huh? Now I just have to paint the rest of the doors in the house…. ugh! Oh, and before I get inundated…. the duvet cover is from West Elm- the organic cotton pintuck duvet cover.

The white doors are just gorgeous. They really do look so much better. I had a bunch of those hollow core doors in a house a few years back and to dress them up we added some molding squares. We just glued them on and tacked with small nails to help hold until the glue dried, and amazingly they looked like really expensive up to date doors. Just a thought if you get the urge. Hugs, Marty

What an improvement Cassie! It ties the room together even more.

I have those SAME brown hollow doors, with white trim around them. LOL! I need to do most of them in my house as well. I have done a few, but have many left to do.

Well done! I too have those same doors, and I painted them all cream about 6 months ago and what an improvement it made.

Painting my 80’s trim and doors white was one of the first things I did when I bought my house! It made the biggest impact!
