( I was provided with the artwork for this post, but was not otherwise compensated.  All opinions are my own. This post does contain affiliate links.)  Hey there, friends! We’ve been making some great progress on the nursery, and today I wanted to share with you the latest update.  When I shared our plans for this space early in January, so many of you commented on the epic artwork I had selected.  It truly was the perfect piece for this space stylistically, color-wise… it was everything I wanted.  However, when it came time to order it, I realized that the sizes available weren’t going to suit my needs… there was a 40 x 30 that was just way too big, or a 24 x 18 and that was just way too small.  I had to revisit the plan and choose option B, and am thrilled with the outcome.  Today I am going to share with you our indigo forest inspired art for the nursery, and also show you some of the other pieces that caught my eye in the selection process.  I want to thank my friends at Minted for collaborating with me on this post.  Minted has been a go-to source for our home when it comes to art because I love that they curate pieces from artists, and they are printed in limited quantities, so they feel much more personal.

In our nursery, the original plan was to use this piece entitled misty forest…. I loved the mood and color it brought to the plan.

misty forest Art PrintPinHowever, as I mentioned the sizing just didn’t seem to fit the scale of my space well.  The larger option would dominate, and I felt that the 18″ height of the next size down would be too small on my wall.  Minted makes several square prints in 24 x 24 inch options and I felt that would fill my wall a bit better, so I started perusing the square options available.  I narrowed it down to 4 choices, each of them bringing blue into the space, but stylistically a bit different.

Nighttime Sky was a top contender.  The modern feel as well as the colors spoke to me, but I was uncertain about introducing mint in the art, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted a modern vibe.

In the end I decided that the green was just too much green for me and I wanted something that truly focused on the blue.

Two of the prints I fell in love with feature bears, blues, and are ridiculously adorable and fun.  The thinker is just that… a simple blue bear.  I mean, how cute is this guy?

The Thinker Children's Art PrintPin

While I absolutely loved him, I felt he left too much white space on the wall.  It was already going to hang on a white wall over a white piece of furniture, so that would be a whole lot of white going on!

The second, Blue Fish Wish, features a brown bear looking into the eye of a blue fish jumping out of water.  Again, this piece is incredibly adorable and fit the style and colors of my space.

Blue Fish Wish Children's Art PrintPinThe bears were both so cute, but I wasn’t sure that I wanted a real “nursery” piece of art and these both seemed more nursery-like to me.  Looking back at my original misty forest print, what drew me to it was the color and the image of the forest.  It’s a versatile piece that doesn’t say “nursery.”  I looked again, and that’s when I came across THE ONE.

House in the Woods is a gorgeous square print featuring by artist Ekaterina Romanova.  She says of this piece, “This watercolor landscape was inspired by one of my walks. I absolutely love nature and the outdoors. Going to a trail or forest just brings out the best in me. To be away from the business of civilization and just relax. I love the peaceful feeling I get when looking at this painting.” YES!  She took the words out of my mouth!  I love nature and wanted that feel in the room, and I wanted a piece that felt calming and serene.  After all, this room will be the place where my baby boy spends much of his time sleeping (or so we hope!).

Additionally, House in the Woods pretty much depicts my dream home… a quaint little home nestled into the hillside in the woods.  It’s perfection!

House in the Woods Art PrintPinShown above in the classic white frame, I selected the raw wood frame to bring some warmth to the space.  I did want clean and modern lines on the frame to let the art stand out, but it needed a touch of natural wood.

Here you can see the new piece of art hanging and how well it works with everything else that has been placed so far, including the flag on the adjacent wall.

I’ve been also working a little bit on the other side of the room, bringing in a huge leather chair I am sure to crash in many nights while nursing.  It almost didn’t fit through the doorway, and Chris and I had a heated discussion in the hallway, chair blockading the door…. but I was convinced we’d get it in, although he doubted me.  I’ll tell you more about how that panned out later, but as you can see below, this photo was taken seated from that very chair. 😉

White, Navy, Wood, Gray Boy Nursery ProgressPinIn the end, I am thrilled with the House in the Woods print for all the same reasons I had originally selected Misty Forest.  It’s exactly what I had in mind, and I know that I will enjoy many sleepless nights staring at it from my chair, eyes glazed over, and dreaming of one day living quietly in my quaint little mountain forest residence. 😉

As for now though, I will look forward to those nights, because I know in the long run they are precious and fleeting.

Before I go, I thought I’d share a little personal photo progress as well.  I am currently 26 weeks, and this was taken just last week at 25 weeks.  The bump is growing, and the boy is a mover!  He’s much more active than I remember my other babies being.  I feel great still, and all is going well.  Yesterday I met with my specialist and had an ultrasound and everything looked as it should. (The benefit of having a specialist this time around is that I get to have an ultrasound every 4 weeks and see him much more frequently than I did with my previous babies).  I do plan on sharing many more details about this pregnancy with you very soon!

We’ve got 3 more months until we meet him, and still lots of work to do in the nursery, but I am confident we will be able to get it done.

Thank you so much to Minted for partnering with me on this post.

The piece looks beautiful! And I’m sort of obsessing over the bear prints. I wish I had a good place for them.
