Inexpensive and Fun Teacher Gifts

Friday marked the last day of school here.  I would have loved to have been on top of things and had the teacher gifts ready a month ago, but alas…. I finished them up on Thursday which is why you are just now seeing them.  I made a couple of things this year.  All of Sawyer’s teachers received a can with a plant in it that said something like “Because of you, I ‘can’ dribble a basketball”.  Here is a quick picture of the project, but I am sharing all of the details over at the DIY Club.

For Sawyer’s first grade teacher, I wanted to give her something a little extra.  Recently I ordered some wooden tile charm sets from The Plaid Barn. I used scraps from making my vintage book page buntings, and mod podged it onto the discs and then followed the kit (adding the adhesive resin as well as gluing on the little metal piece that makes it a charm).  I thought that these would be a great teacher gift since they are made from vintage children’s books, and there were some that had initials, and even one that said “ABC” (and you can see I made one from sheet music, too).

BUT, I wanted the gift to be from Sawyer, so I let him choose which one to give his teacher.  Naturally, he chose a cute lil bunny.

These will be available in the barn next weekend!  Just click on the link to see new pictures of the space!  And I will be bringing more over there before the sale.
Don’t forget to check out the I-can planters!
Enjoy what is left of the weekend!  I will be back tomorrow with an awesome giveaway.  For now, I am off to sneak in some work time before I become make up artist and hair stylist to dancer extraordinaire!

I love the charms! I have a stack of children’s books I’ve been meaning to comb through to make some frames you featured awhile ago, and now I have another project to add to the list!

What a great idea those plants are! I have some stuff to make those resin charms and just haven’t left enough time to get them done yet, but now I really want to…today! Thanks for the inspiration that makes us want to get out there and create something cute!

What an adorable idea for gifts! I have so many extra cans in my “supply closet” that I save for whenever inspiration strikes. What a thoughtful thing to include what they taught your children, that was personal. We are finished with school, moving on to middle school, but I will remember this for gifts for those teachers that are extra special to us.

I’m glad that I found this. I’ve been hoping to find some great gifts under 30 dollars for my family members. I don’t exactly have a lot of money right now but I know you don’t have to spend a lot for good gifts.
