Large Scale Modern Art from Minted in the Living Room

Disclosure: Minted provided me with the framed art print for my living room; I was not otherwise compensated and all opinions are my own.

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you some of fabulous large scale modern art pieces from Minted I was considering using in the living room.  They have so many awesome choices that I had a hard time even narrowing it down, but I knew I wanted a clean and modern look, with a simple white frame.  The space where it was going in our living room was right behind my favorite navy vintage velvet sofa. Here’s a quick look at it, but I want to talk about the phases this space has gone through as well.

Living Room Art from Minted; eclectic black fireplace, modern bohoFirst, there was the gallery wall.bookcases-corner-view

Then we moved those bookcases to behind the sofa (which was replaced by the navy velvet one we have now).  This is what it looked like just this past Christmas.

Eclectic Christmas Living Room

But the walls started to feel like they were closing in on me.  The bookcases were collecting stuff.  And more stuff.  And the stuff was multiplying!  And if you have noticed, I have a fear of commitment when it comes to coffee tables, apparently.

Anyhow, I just needed less going on around me.  Life has been pretty much on turbo-speed this past year, and with all of the busy-ness, I was craving a more serene and less cluttered feel at home.  One statement piece of art would fill the space perfectly, and leave me the peace I needed.  I also needed to select artwork that would fit the vibe of our space, and would not fight the large canvas family photo on the adjacent wall.

Living Room Large Scale Modern Art from Minted- Boho modern, eclectic

Taking into consideration everything from the colors, vibe, and how it would fit my space, I eventually decided on Melt by Adrienne Jackson in a white premium wood frame.

Melt by Adrienne Jackson in an Eclectic Living RoomOnce the art was mounted on the wall, I worked on bringing this space to life with things that would help keep the peaceful feeling I was searching for.  I brought the fiddle leaf fig over from the window across the room, and added another large plant to the other side of the sofa.  I don’t actually know what it is… I told Chris to get me an indoor tree. 😉Eclectic Living Room with Minted Art

Leave it to Chris to take me very literally and get me a large indoor plant that was indeed very tree shaped.

Vintage blue velvet sofa, Modern Art, Greenery Eclectic Living RoomI also brought this industrial style floor lamp from Ikea back into the space.  It had been hanging out in the basement since Christmas when I had removed it to make room for our tree.

Vintage Blue velvet Sofa, Eclectic Living Room, Modern Art, Fiddle Leaf Fig, Industrial Floor LampI absolutely love how this space feels now!

Eclectic Living Room with Modern Art from Minted, Modern BohoAll of the natural elements like the tree stump side table and plant life keep this space feeling fresh and clean.Eclectic Living Room with Tree Stump Side Table, Plants, Modern Art from Minted- Modern Boho

I took a kajillion photos because I was just so flippin’ happy with this room.  It took all my strength not to jump the gun and share a peek in last week’s Spring tour, when I deliberately left this living room wall out of photos.

Eclectic Living room in blue, white, black, with glass coffee table and vintage sofaI am truly happy with the choice I made in Melt.Modern Boho Living Room with Eclectic style- awesome art from MintedAnd just so you get a glimpse of what it looks like up close…Melt from Adrienne Jackson available at MintedI love those drips and the almost watercolor style of it that keeps it from feeling too heavy.

I no longer worry about all of the things on the bookcases jumping off the wall and suffocating me… OK so maybe that wasn’t a legitimate fear, but I think you all know what I mean about when the clutter just gets to be too much.  Next time you think about adding shelves or creating a gallery wall, you may want to consider one large statement piece for your wall.  It will make an impact, and leave you plenty of breathing room as well.

*Many thanks to Minted for providing me with Melt by Adrienne Jackson.  All opinions are my own.

Beautiful as always, where did you put the shelves? Also, I believe that tree is a ficus.

You may fear committing to a coffee table but it is clear that glass is a love of yours. They all have glass tops! I love all your coffee table choices but i do have to say the latest one is my favorite.

I love what you chose Cassie!! That is the perfect modern element to pair with the traditional lines of your navy sofa, that combination is delicious! I have been working on a piece of large statement art for over my couch and its not on the wall yet but I already love how clean one big piece feels. Minted is such a fabulous source for interesting art prints!

thank you so much! i got the biggest one- it’s 40×50 i believe. it doesn’t look as big in a couple of the photos because of the wide angle lens.

Holy moly it’s gorgeous in there! I love how it has an open feel to that side of the room now that mimics the opposite wall with windows. The entire room feels so much larger! And, love how you have plants/trees flanking it. Just gorgeous.

I can’t believe you have that print! I almost-nearly purchased it for my own space a couple of weeks ago while working on a refresh for my fireplace. I ended up with something a little bolder, but now you have me second guessing my choice. Your space looks amazing right now. Oh, and your tree is a ficus tree (ficus benjamina).
