Little Boy Blue

I bought this little oak dresser a few weeks ago for one Andrew Jackson.

It is very petite and would make a great nightstand. I fell in love with its simple shape and small size. I decided to sand the top a bit and poly it for a rustic finish. The base was painted a soft blue, distressed and antiqued, and new knobs (from Hobby Lobby) were added. When I finished it, I fell even more in love! First of all, blue is my color, but it is just such a quaint and happy lil dresser.

It will be at the Lucketts Spring Antique Market in 3 weeks! Hope you will be, too!

That is so awesome. I totally love it! I’m looking for a little dresser just like this for beside hubby’s side of the bed. I was thinking I would leave it all timber though now I’ve seen this I think I might paint the base. Probaby white though as our room is pretyy neutral. Of course, that’s when I actually find the piece of furniture to begin with!.

Cassie, I love it! It is so pretty. You did such a great job. Isn’t it going to be hard to part with? I’m struggling with a couple of pieces myself. I love what I do, but I can’t possibly keep everything I work on. ๐Ÿ™‚

You know, when I first saw that dresser I loved it in the natural oak finish. When I saw the blue, I fell in love! It so makes that piece special! Nice job preserving the top. Great eye!

What a great job! We did an old dresser last year in a soft blue faux finish and then padded the three drawers inside, filling them with dried lavender, and covered the padding in white satin. We sold it at Scotts Market in Atlanta to an expectant Mom who was due to deliver a little boy about a month later. These kinds of projects are great because there are so many old dressers available. It’s just when you do something great with them, like you did, they really take on a new life. Great job! Rory
