May Flowers, Maybe May Before, and Scentsy Winner!

Happy Sunday!  I told you all about my plans yesterday to head back to our old town to go to a birthday party.  Well, Emmy and I went yard saling (and yes, we scored some great finds I will have to share later!), went to her school to buy herbs and a butterfly bush at their plant sale, and then to Sawyer’s soccer game.  Well, somewhere in there, my car’s emission light came on.  So, no party.  We had to take the car into the shop, and will hopefully have it back Monday.  Instead of being bummed about it, we made lemonade out of lemons.  Both kids helped me plant our new plants, do some weeding,  and I also hauled out a special surprise for them which will be a summer project.  (More on that later).

So we still had a great day, and since I worked outside I thought I’d share some pictures of our garden.  I am so thrilled that this house came with 7, yes 7, clumps of peonies that are just starting to bloom!

Here is a view of the whole garden area…

And heading down the hill…

And here is the new herb area, with a special fella Emmy and I found at Homegoods to oversee it. πŸ™‚  We also planted Sawyer’s broccoli plant he got from his agriculture field trip.

Pin

Aside from the peonies, we also inherited a gargantuan Russian Sage.  Anyone need any- we’ve got plenty!

Pin

Even though we missed the party and are going to have to fork over money for car repairs, we made it a good day and spent time as a family outside.

Now, time for one of my favorite link parties from one of my favorite blogs!  You guys know I love partying with Lisa for her Before and After parties!

Shine Your LightPin

Well, this month is super busy for me and I don’t know that I will accomplish much.  I did just pick up a dresser for my own room.  It is huge, and really cool!  Sorry for the cruddy cell phone night time picture, but hopefully you will get the idea…

Pin
It has sort of an Asian vibe with the hardware and I love it!  It is currently white, and I do not have any idea what color to paint it!  I mean, I have some ideas, but I just am not feeling any of them with certainty yet.  Remember I shared with you the rug we got the other day for $4.14?  Well, this is going against a wall (which will be white) in our bedroom.  I would love to hear your suggestions.  I am kind of all over the place here, thinking I will paint it potentially an indigo, a teal, maybe a softer color wedgweood gray, or maybe even leave it white.   The thing is it is a beast and we have to haul it upstairs, so I really want to be SURE.  I think Chris would appreciate that. πŸ™‚  Here are some images to help you think.
The room vaguely looks like this- the rug has been shifted under the bed more (I had to wait for Chris’ help).  The colors in the rug have been misread by some people, so I will tell you it’s a cream, teal, rust, and brown, the bedding is a little more indigo. (Still deciding about the rug, anyhow!)  No matter what we do with the rug, the wall behind the bed will be painted a dark navy with a hint of teal.

Here are some examples of my dressed ideas…

a turquoise… (Check out the rug which is similar in colors)

The dresser is awesome! One of my favorite color schemes is navy and turquoise. Turquoise would be my vote. You could add an accent color with accessories. You have a great eye for color; therefore, whatever you decide will look great. Love your garden, and how fortunate to have all those peonies!

I love that teal dresser you pictured….I KNOW you aren’t going to go with white!!! Can’t wait to see this after!
Your garden looks beautiful, and you are so lucky to have all those mature peonies – my favorite flower. I just transplanted some around my yard but now they probably won’t flower for 2-3 years, and I’m not exactly patient. Enjoy those beautiful blooms and gardening with your munchkins!

What if you balanced the room with painting the dresser the same color as the accent wall and put them on different sides of the room? I love the idea of a fun, bold color!

I love the indigo and the teal, if the hardware was gold it would mimic the gold on the bedside tables. Whatever you do will be beautiful, can’t wait to see it!

Cassie- you have such an amazing sense of color. I love all of your choices, but with the navy accent wall and the new bedding I vote for turquoise for the dresser!

PEONIES!!!!! So pretty!! I really love the style of that dresser you chose — a lot!! I like all the colors you chose. That dark blue (indigo) is beautiful with gold details, and I think orange (especially that 2nd one) would look amazing! You really can’t go wrong! Sorry about the car trouble, but am glad you had a fun family day xo

Ack! I haven’t even gotten to my russian sage yet. It had babies and thinks it’s going to populate the whole stinking country. Geesh. Love the birdhouse in your garden…swaheet! And your rug…I still like it! I vote a dark smokey blue for that back wall.

Wow, it is really hard to choose because any one of those would look awesome. I’d say if you want it cohesive, go with the indigo. If you like vibrant pops of color go with either the orange or the turq. And really, a nice compromise might be the teal!

Um. I did not know that this house came with Peonies. If I had known, I would have tried to talk Chris into it much much sooner!!! Haha! Seals the deal for sure πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see what you do with that awesome dresser!!! I’m sure it won’t be because you are crazy productive, but if it still isn’t done when I get there I will help you decide πŸ™‚

I love the peonies! The whole flower area is looking great! I wish they could bloom year round – I love flowers! I can’t wait to see the finished dresser! Since the wall behind the bed is going to be a darker blue, I probably wouldn’t paint the dresser a dark blue, especially since the dresser is so big. I think teal with gold hardware would look awesome, and it would be very Cassie, but still add color to the room! Can’t wait to see it!

I love peonies and need to plant one in my new house! Stinks about your car πŸ™

My vote is orange for the contrast against the blue.

I love the indigo – it would tie in with your new bed cover AND the new rug. Especially if you did brass accents on it – very campaign chestlike.

I love peonies! πŸ™‚ I have two, one sort of large, and the other a medium one. I want lots so I can cut the blooms! πŸ™‚
I do have two hydrangeas that are filled with buds. Can’t wait!
dresser? I think teal, but if the wall is teal… I dunno. not much help, eh?
I have to have my AC worked on in my car… I dread it!
good luck with yours, hope it’s not too much.

I have been thinking about your post all day! I can’t get navy, turquoise and orange out of my head. Your orange chair is calling out to me, so I’m thinking a turquoise dresser… can’t wait to see it!

i’m not reading the other comments so i’m not influenced in my vote for orange. with the teal in the rug, the indigo in the bedspread and the future navy wall, i think you need an orange-ish something to pop out of the white wall.

then again, i’m not sleeping there!

I wouLd go with the same color you do on the accent wall, except in gloss. That will bring the color to the opposite side of the room and give some balance.
