Morning Meanderings and Musings; Plus POWW Faves!

I have been getting myself acquainted with the roads near our home, and have been getting up early most mornings to head out for a walk.  I was running before we moved here, but it is SO hilly, that walking does me just as much good right now!  Anyhow, I set out before sunrise, when it’s still somewhat dark.  I love leaving the quiet house, even the dogs still sleep as I make my exit.  I take my Ipod with me, and listen to some mellow tunes.  I love the serenity I find in the mornings here; the walks give me a chance to just breathe before I start my day and they give me a sense of ritual.

While I walk, I get to see so many beautiful sights, and also hear the sounds of my new surroundings: rushing streams, blowing leaves, and many “cocka-doodle-doos”!  I have been soaking it all in, and also reflecting on my own life.  My dream, as you know, was to own a shop.  Of course that didn’t turn out as planned, but after everything that has happened over the last month, I don’t think that is my dream anymore.  I’m changing gears and I can feel it.  For now I will continue on with my online business as I had before.  But I don’t think I want the stresses and pressures and drama a shop could bring.  It’s peaceful out here, and I want it to stay that way.  So who knows what the road ahead of me holds, but I can tell you it is going to be a beautiful walk getting there.  And where is “there” anyhow?   I don’t think I was put on this earth to be in one place.  I am certain I was put here to be in motion, always working towards some greater goal.  Where would we be without constant curiosity and lust for life?

Anyhow, I wanted to share some of my scenes with you.  These photos are not the best quality as they were taken with my phone, but I hope you get a feel for what I feel when I am walking.

But of course, then there is also this, and I can’t help but think of “Children of the Corn”. After all Halloween is near, and I am a horror film fanatic! 🙂

And now for those POWW Faves!  I look forward to going through the links every week… so many great ideas!  I can’t wait to get painting again!  I am hoping to work on a project this weekend to have to share with you next week.
This dresser is SO. MUCH. FUN.  what girl, young or old, would not love to have this dresser from Petticoat Junktion?  It is dramatic and gorgeous!
SANY0152

This sideboard type piece from A Little Bit o’Shizzle is amazing.  Fo shizzle.  Let me tell you that it began life as a trunk with no legs.  Really.  You have got to go see it!
I love this fun “Perch” bench from Paint In My Hair.  It is so sweet, but sweeter yet is that it is being auctioned for a good cause!
How awesome is this set of “Kung Fu Panda” chairs from The Bold Abode?  Do you love them?  Do you want them?  I do.
Keeley and Mike always blow me away with their projects from European Paint Finishes.  This week was no exception with this smashing vibrant dresser!
Alright, that’s all I have for you today!  Have a wonderful weekend!  We have the Sears man coming this morning to checkout our leaking dishwasher, soccer, fall festivals, and mattress shopping!

This post grabbed me at your quiet time of walking. I USE to do this often. My quiet times were late in the evenings around 8:30 and I would head out in our neighborhood to take a moment for myself. It’s hard to get back started again. I need this time though and with Fall coming and the weather a bit cooler here in So Georgia, I’m setting a goal to start some nightly walks. Thanks for the inspiration and I loved all the pics!

What a gorgeous view! It’s so relaxing getting to just observe the outdoors – until you walk by the cornfield! LOL! I always think of Children of the Corn too! Great picks! Have a good weekend!

I guess it is true what they say that everything happens for a reason. It sounds like you are exactly where you are supposed to be and I am so happy for you! It was well worth the wait! It is so beautiful where you live….looks very peaceful. All beautiful featured pieces. That little bench is darling and I love that it is being auctioned for a good cause.

Oh Cassie – you live in paradise! No wonder you like to walk every day. I wish I could join you!! I’m glad you are able to clear your head on your walks and make decisions too. I can tell you are at peace with your decision not to open a shop at the moment. God bless x

It looks like you’re where you need to be right now, and what a pretty place that is! I love the concept of early morning walks … unfortunately the reality of a warm comfy bed usually wins!

Wow, what a perfect way to start the day! I’m sure that things seem much clearer to you in such peaceful surroundings. Maybe you are already heading straight in the direction of your dreams. You are just redefining your dreams a bit. That’s just part of the journey, or in your case, the walk!
