Ok, maybe it won’t be the most embarrassing post, but it will be pretty darn close. Just wait for the video at the end….
As you know, I was out in California, visiting my brother, Dana, and his amazingly awesome, beautiful, and funny girlfriend, Viri. (Can you tell I love her?) I went out there to visit and to help them work on the adorable 1920’s bungalow they are rehabbing. It is going to be awesome when finished! My main project was to work on the kitchen and help them design it. So as soon as it is done I will share pictures.
While I was there, I was also able to meet in person, Ali of My Third True Love, and her twin sister Lisa of Turning Tables. Ali and I had really connected over the past year or so, and recently when her sis started blogging, I connected with her as well. I was so excited to meet them in person, and I knew we would be great friends.
We met up at the Rose Bowl Flea, and I rode back to the Laguna Beach area with Ali and Lisa, and spent the night at Ali’s house. I knew we would have an awesome time! I can’t even put it into words very well just how wonderful the reality was. It was a natural friendship, and we were able to just relax and hang out. And I have to add that Ali and Lisa are both stunningly beautiful women. They are both talented, amazing, and true. And one of my favorite things about the trip was watching them interact. Their relationship goes deeper than any sibling relationship I have ever seen, in such an awesome way.
Ali’s husband and children are also fabulous. They made me feel so welcome, and again, everything just came so naturally with them. Josh is the perfect match for Ali, sweet and thoughtful, and funny, too. Noah is a boy genius who was teaching me things about my own computer. Did I mention he is 5? And 2 year old Hayden is so stinking cute! I wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home with me! She is a little mini-Ali. They made me feel so welcome, and even had the chalkboard decorated for me!
Ali and I are already scheming up plans for our families to take a vacation together!
On Monday, Ali’s fabulous husband made us the most wonderful breakfast…. strawberry crepes! They were even more delicious than the look…. sooooooo yummy!
After that we swung by Lisa’s house, and I got to meet her awesome husband, too! And her adorable pups! What I found very interesting was the huge difference between Ali’s shabby chic beachy home, and Lisa’s modern home. Yet you can see the similarities in their style. It was really neat.
Ali, Lisa, and Hayden then took me to see Laguna Beach. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, and the ocean was glittering. We sat and people watched (I love that!) while Hayden played on the playground there. Here are a couple pictures from the beach courtesy of Ali….

We lunched at Wahoo’s where I had an amazing fish bowl! Then it was back to Ali’s to relax before she drove me back to LA, where we met up with my brother, Viri, and a couple of their friends at The Smog Cutter for some karaoke fun.
And here is where the post turns from sweet to embarrassing, but because I am fully able to laugh at myself, I thought I would share! Before I get to the videos, a few pictures from Karaoke…
Ali sang “I Just Called to Say I Love You”…
I clearly sang with passion…. or pain?
Dana and Viri did a duet to “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart”…
Ali and I sang together to “You’re the One That I Want”….
And my brother’s friend Ruby sang several, one of which was “I like Big Butts”. But she is a comedienne, so it suited her! 🙂 Her fiance is one of my brother’s very best friends, Victor, who made it an all ladies night for himself, meaning he sang such hits as 9-5, and only sang songs originally by women. They are quite the perfect pair and so fun to be with!
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for! Have your finger on the volume button, ready to turn it down at any moment. My playlist for the night included, “You’re so Vain”, “You’re the One that I Want” with Ali, “Piece of My Heart”, and “I Think We’re Alone Now”.

Dana, Viri, Ali, Lisa, and family and friends…. Thank you so much for an awesome week! I had the best time and cannot wait to do it again. I might invest in voice lessons before then though.
