My Fall Mantle

September 25, 2013 by Cassie 45 Comments

So Thrifty Decor Chick is having her Fall mantle party…. being so on top of the game, I am a day late but better late than never, right?  I took the opportunity with the seasonal change to add some warmth and color plus a touch of Halloween to our living room fireplace.  Here is how it looks as of now…

Pin

I brought in a little nature and a little color…. gourds in whites and oranges, antlers, candles, and an aqua weight my parents gave me for my birthday on the left….

Pin

On the right, more gourds and antlers and candles, a gilded pear, and balancing out the aqua with a vintage Dansk pitcher filled with Silver Dollars.

Pin

Here is a shot of the silver dollars…. I love how they catch the light.

Pin

Gourds travel along the center….

Pin

Pin

Across the mantle is the bat book page banner I made last year when I was down and out.

Pin

I added a creepy antique painting and a couple black owls to the hearth.

Pin

And in that first shot maybe you noticed a couple of other additions, like this tan hassock I scored at a flea market.  Emmy loves to rest her feet on it and calls it the “brown squishy comfy”.

Pin

And on the table, I added some white glitter pumpkins and a little Halloween tree my kids like to decorate each year.

Pin

I am happy with the look of the mantle this year.  It feels warm and cozy.  Last year’s mantle was definitely a little creepier….
Pin

Don’t worry though… I’ve got my creepy going on in the dining room. 😉

Your mantle looks lovely and the silver dollars bring back memories for me…my Mom used to always decorate with them in the fall when I was growing up – thanks for sharing!

It looks so great. we have our TV above our mantel and I was debating yesterday how i decorate it without making the TV totally stick out like a sore thumb…and then I saw this and you made it look so natural. I will strive to be like you 🙂

Squishy thing, ha! I’m having a hard time getting into fall decorating this year. Doesn’t help that everything is still in moving boxes, and it’s 90+ outside. I’ll just stare at yours instead 🙂

I love the mantle and the touches of glitter around. Funny, I went with glitter and glam this year, but I still have to get my creepy spider webs up too!

Here’s a secret….I haven’t added a single fall item to our house yet! Ha! I guess I should probably get on that pretty soon. I love how your mantle says fall but not seasonal explosion!!! Very clean and simple and pretty. Great job Cassie.

lovely! I adore the bat banner :). If I ever get around to doing a fall mantel, I’ll be going for non-spooky and lighter colors, too, and leaving spooky for the dining room. As long as you get your spooky in somewhere, right? 🙂
