My Last Dresser for a While

July 31, 2011 by Cassie 42 Comments

Happy Sunday!  Happily, though I am stressed out and nervous about finding a house, affording what we need, this weekend was busy and I sold a few dressers!  Yay!  Less to take with me, thank goodness!  I have one last dresser project for you for a while… You guys will just have to bear with me as we go through this moving process.  Hopefully you will stick around?

Crickets.

OK, well here’s hoping you stick around anyhow!  As soon as we find a house, just think of all the projects coming your way- room designs, furniture rehabs, TONS of goodness.  You just have to wait for it.  But for now, I will share with you my last dresser for the time being.  I found this guy the day before I flew to join my family at the beach.  He was hiding in a back corner of Goodwill.  I caught a glimpse and was quickly moving furniture out of my way.  I took a look at the price tag which read, “$30”.  I ripped it off and raced to the register, throwing old ladies with walkers, and moms with kids out of my way!  Kidding.  I wouldn’t do that.  You know that, right?

Crickets again.

Anyhow, I had to leave it in my car as I could’t bring it into the house myself, so it sat there in my car til we returned from the beach.  Here is the before:

Pin

I knew I wanted to paint it a blue, but didn’t know what blue.  I am also on a time crunch at the moment and just wanted to get it done without sanding or priming, so I wanted to use chalk paint.  I didn’t have enough of any blues left.  I mixed some greek blue with the mint green I had already mixed, and threw in some old white for good measure.  All together, it created a very pretty dusty blue.  He got two coats of that blue, then I distressed him, waxed him, and added his awesomesauce hardware back on.  And here he is now…

And I remembered I do have one more big piece of furniture to share with you in August, which starts TOMORROW!!!  How did that happen so fast?
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Cassie you know I’ll be here through it all – furniture rehabs or not – and I can see why no one else bought that dresser. Funny how ‘regular’ folks don’t see the full potential – all it takes is some paint, sandpaper, wax, time and love! Hope it sells too – less to pack.

That dresser is a great find and for $30?!?!? My Goodwill would have priced that thing at $149 (that seriously seems to be their “go to” price for all large pieces of furniture…grrrr). We are sticking with you through your move! You can’t get rid of us, even if you wanted too! Good luck with everything.

I am dying over that dresser…$30?!? for all that lovely carving, amazing hardware, and cute little caster-ed feet??? It’s lucky that you found it, though, because you made it absolutely fantastic (as you always do)…love the blue! Good luck on the move and you know we will be here waiting (perhaps not patiently (c:) when you get back!
