Happy Tuesday! Today I am headed out to the thrift shops to see what trouble I can get into- hopefully a big mess of it! In the meantime, the holiday season is in full force across the blogosphere. My halls have been decked, my trees are all now up (We just got our real tree yesterday!), and we’ve been listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies, burning Christmas candles, and just feeling the spirit. I’ll be sharing my home tour soon, but in the meantime I am going to share some little glimpses with you.
Today I want to share my mantle. Before I share, let’s take a look at last year’s mantle. Last year I went with silvers and reds, and the gorgeous stockings my mother in law made took center stage.
We actually use our fireplace quite often so this year I decided the stockings would be hung the week of Christmas so that we don’t have to move them each time we have a fire. I also decided to go with a more natural look, but of course I needed some sparkle.
And here is a peek of our tree, decked out mainly in blues, reds, and greens this year. I wanted to bring the blues of the room into the tree, so added true blue ornaments as opposed to my typical aqua.
My big brass stud found his place in my heart on the hearth.
The opposite side of the hearth has a gilded small stump and a couple of pine cone trees I picked up a couple years ago at the Christmas clearance at Target.
On the actual mantle are pine cones the kids and I glittered a couple of years ago, antlers, greenery from a tree in our yard, and a pair of mercury glass candlesticks from my friend Allison, and mercury glass votive holders that were a gift from my parents. The moravian star natural garland was also a gift from my parents- I just love it!
I love the details on these pretty votive holders….
And here is one more look at it all together…
It’s fairly simple and rustic and just right for me this year. And I love how the fun colored glittered pine cones my kids created bring in the colors of the tree’s ornaments. Right now as I type this post, the tree is lit, a fire is blaring, and I am sitting here with my family enjoying the ambience of this space.
