My Top 10 Posts of 2019
Hello friends! It’s day 2 of 2020, a new year, a new decade. I am and have always been a fan of new years because I love the opportunity for a clean slate and fresh start as well as the chance to dream about all of the possibilities the year ahead may hold for me. Of course, I don’t think you can look ahead with a clear vision unless you look back and also see just how far you’ve already come as well as acknowledge where you may need to grow. This past year was a big one for us as we closed on our North Carolina home on January 4th and have spent much of the last year making this house our own, and turning Greensboro into our home. This year has been full of ups and downs as I’ve navigated life with kids in a new place, but I am happy to say that I finally feel my roots starting to grow here. Today I am joining several other bloggers as we look back on the past year and share our top 10 posts with our readers. While I personally have my own favorites (some are included here), I used Google analytics to determine the crowd favorites. I’d love to hear if your favorite is featured here as well! Thanks so much to Krista at The Happy Housie for organizing this blog hop, and be sure to check out all of the others at the bottom of this post to see all of the amazing projects that were completed this year.
We’re going to count backwards from 10, because obviously we have to save the best for last (which happens to be my favorite project of the year, too!).
10. Earthy California Mod Dining Room- Fall 2019 One Room Challenge Reveal
I love our new dining room so much, and was thrilled that it made the list! You can read all of the details here.
9. Hand Painted Black and White Rainbow Mural
This project was by far my most fun and out of the box of the year. I used paint I already had on hand, a little creativity, and a couple hours of time. You can read my full tutorial here, but the one thing I would say is to embrace imperfection and let your creativity go!
8. Green Master Bathroom Progress
This post was all about the power of paint and budget decor items. I didn’t spend much money at all to update this bathroom. Eventually I would love to replace the floors, shower surround, and vanity, but that will have to wait for now.
7. Tween Girl Retreat Progress
Heading into the new year, we’ve actually got some plans to give this space a little more function and perhaps some fun wallpaper, but Emmy’s canopy bed with lights has been a pinterest and fan favorite.
6. Small Halloween Ready Porch
In all fairness, I think this post made the list because my friends at Tuesday Morning shared it and sent me some traffic. 😉 That being said, I still love it. It’s funny how I thought I would struggle with a small porch, and instead it’s become one of my favorite spots to decorate!
5. Budget Friendly Fall Tour
Budget decorating is something that really seems to resonate with folks. Just because money is tight doesn’t mean we can’t have a beautiful and happy home, right? I am always looking for ways to stretch my creativity and money and always love sharing those ideas with you.
4. Moody Black Bedroom
I love black walls and I have loved them for a long time. I am a huge fan of black and white and high contrast. Of course, I painted this bedroom black and then felt like it was missing something so I added color blocking later.
3. Summer Staycation Tour
This post was another all about decorating our home for a season on a tight budget. Good news! I can safely say that 2020 will also be filled with budget decorating ideas, because I haven’t yet fallen into a large sum of money. Yet.
2. My First Holiday Housewalk
I was so thrilled to be included in Jennifer Rizzo‘s Holiday Housewalk this year. Our holiday home was pretty simple and I used a lot of natural items throughout. With a toddler who was into everything, simple was better. Next year I am hoping to add many more handmade items to my decor.
1. Budget Porch Makeover
Boy, was I thrilled to see that you guys loved this simple and budget-friendly makeover as much as I did! A couple cans of paint, a steal on a brand new door, some planters from a discount retailer, and an Amazon light fixture that was under $35 went a long way to bring this outdated porch into the present. Of course, that pink door is my favorite thing! I never thought of myself as a pink person until I painted that door and was immediately converted.
There you have it… the top ten of this year! Does anything on the list surprise you? Did your favorite make it? I would love to hear from you!
