Alright guys, it’s One Room Challenge Fall 2019 Week 4, and you know what that means?! It means that basically we have one week left to get the work done if we want time to photograph it. I’m not stressed though. (Insert maniacal laughter.) In all seriousness, we are pretty much on track with everything, but I am anxious about product arriving in time. Honestly, pretty much all of the product is still not here yet, so I might be sweating… I gave up biting my nails two weeks ago, and what a time to do it!!! I JUST WANT TO BITE MY NAILS. I know it’s a disgusting habit, but it gives me somewhere to place my anxiety. It’s also Sober October, and I gave up wheat products for the month of October. (I am on a quest to be a better, more fulfilled human!) Thank goodness I didn’t give up sugar. 😉 Anyhow, this past weekend while I was out of town, Chris was kind enough to paint the walls for me. Actually, I think he was more likely motivated by fear of a woman who has deprived herself of bread, wine, and fingernails. He’s learned throughout out marriage not to poke the bear, and instead feed it and tell it it’s pretty, and sometimes scratch its furry back. Shall we check out the progress? (And as always, you can find the plans here.)
Oh hey, that photo looks familiar! Yeah, it is exactly the same photo I used last week when the walls were primed. Spoil alert: I chose white for the walls, so it really doesn’t look too different and I’ve been crazy busy so I figured I’d just recycle this photo. 😉
What’s the plan moving forward this weekend? Well, I will be putting the fantastic mural up on this wall:
As a reminder, here is the mural which is going to bring so much color and life to this space. It is going to be GLORIOUS and warm this white box right up.
Also happening this weekend is that Jared, who has fabricated our new live edge dining table, will be driving from Alabama to North Carolina with our table! We’re making him dinner, and we’re exceptionally good cooks so it’s a total fair trade. Eating at our house is akin to eating at Noma. I have never actually eaten there, but I don’t really need to I guess… just as good here. 😉 Jared has been kind enough to send me some photos of the table, but I am going to make you wait for it. I will say that when I saw the photos I told him I wanted to make out with it, it’s just so good! He told me I’d be getting his sloppy seconds because he felt the same about it. You know you get along well with and can represent a brant authentically when those are the kinds of behind the scenes conversations that happen. You’ve got to check out his artistry here.
Beyond that, we’re waiting on the bench cushion, blinds, and the pillows to arrive, and then of course, I’ll just be spiffing the space up a bit before photographing it to share! Oh, and the ceiling will have to be painted at some point, but in all honestly, that will most likely happen after the reveal since it connects to the kitchen and that will need to be painted as well.
It’s been so exciting watching all of the designer and guest participants make progress over these last 4 weeks, and I am stoked to see a million refreshed rooms in just two weeks. I hope that this room comes together so that it stands out in a sea of beautiful spaces, but even if it doesn’t, I will be thrilled that I get to call this space my own, and my family will enjoy it for years to come.
