Hi guys! I am just popping in with a quick update on where we are with “progress” on Emmy’s room for the One Room Challenge: Week 2. Progress is in quotes, because truly we’ve gotten nothing done… I’ve been on a high since letting go of store ownership, and have just sort of been enjoying free time a bit too much. But it’s about to get real in here!
So I did get one thing done and that was to just rearrange the furniture to make sure the desk would indeed work as a nightstand, and it fit perfectly.
Of course I will have to move all of the furniture to paint, but I wanted to look like I had done something here.
To move the desk into is place, I also had to remove the dresser, so I’ve brought it to the wall it will sit on, but I’ve also created quite the mess in front of it. For now, instead of showing you the dresser on that wall, I’ll show you the art above it. I found it as is and love that it’s mounted and solid, but really don’t like the burlap border, so am hoping to change that somehow. Otherwise, the pattern, color, and theme are perfect for the space. Also someone better water those spider plants. The vintage metal and glass shelving unit that used to be in here as part of my office area was moved out to the living room so you’ll see its new resting place on Friday in my Halloween tour.
When I cleaned out some of my stuff from Sweet Clover, I brought home an awesome vintage pastel kilim rug. We have the existing bold and darker kilim rug which I am hoping to use in this space, but I’ve worried about it being a little too deep. I had a thought… layering these rugs! The current rug works with the bolder Mexican vibe Emmy wants, but layering this small rug might help tie in the softer wall color as well. Here’s a peek at them together. (And oh my gosh check out the dog fur on the other rug… clearly not cleaning as I go!)
Chris is picking up the paint for me one evening this week, and I hope to get started painting early next week, and also plan on cleaning out the closets so I have somewhere to put everything while I paint. It’s basically a big shuffle of messes going on.
This post might be the most poorly photographed and embarrassing photos I have written since i started blogging many years ago. 😉 And for that, I apologize, but hey, at least you got an update- sort of!
If you are doing the ORC I hope you’ve been a little more productive. I have had enough freedom celebrating and need to get to work now!
