Happy Tuesday! As you can tell I decided to take yesterday off with the holiday weekend. We had a great weekend consisting of classic American fun.

Sawyer’s first 5k (we tried to match a bit- I am that mom)….
And lots of grilling, gardening, and family time!
The 5k was, in retrospect, hilarious! Although at the time… not so much. My favorite conversation was as follows:
Sawyer: I just want my own path.
Me: Well, they make the path for us to follow.
Sawyer: No, I mean my own path in life! I don’t want to do this!
Another highlight was when in a dramatic moment of defeat, he ripped off his bib and crumpled it up and declared himself a quitter. In the end though, we made it! He had to walk a bit, but I am proud of him that he finished. He also felt very proud of himself and wants to do another with me. Oh, and after all of my dragging and coercing and bribing him along the way just to get his legs to move, he announced at the end that he beat me by a second and his foot was just in front of mine. I let him have it. 😉 Yup, kiddo, you totally beat me.
Anyhow, enough about the weekend, how about a brightly painted piece of furniture on this Tuesday?
I found this dresser recently at my local thrift shop- loved the shape of it! And it was, other than some veneer chips, a solid and sturdy piece of furniture.
I hauled it home and got to work! I removed the ugly black plastic knobs from the top drawers, removed and saved the hardware from the bottom drawers, and gave this piece a light sanding all over.
I then painted two coats of General Finishes Patina Green… LOVE this color! It’s a bright and cheerful teal.
After it dried, I hit the edges with sandpaper to distress it a bit. To protect and age it, I used Briwax in Golden Oak. I love using this wax because it adds a hint of age to a piece.
Finally, I added the hardware back to the bottom drawers, and replaced the top drawer knobs with awesome lion head pulls from rockler! I love these guys. 🙂

This piece actually came to Lucketts with me, came back to Sweet Clover, and is still available. I absolutely love it and am hoping the right person comes along and falls in love with it, too! Hopefully soon. 😉
