Hello!  Hope you are all having a wonderful time on this fabulous day!  We started our day with a birthday waffle for Emmy, with 5 chocolate chips for each year of her life, and a candle.  We have an evening planned for Emmy…. it includes her favorite meal (pizza from a shop, not made at home!), and opening her presents from us.  I made her one gift, so I will share that later.  She is just so darn excited to be 5 and heading to kindergarten next year.  I, of course, am thrilled about what her heading to kindergarten means for my schedule, but I am also heartbroken that my baby is growing up.  Sigh.

Anyhow…. I am sharing the full  makeover details of this dresser today over at the DIY Club, but I will give you the quick before ad after here.

BEFORE:

 And after….

Ooooh, aaaah.  ;
I actually really like this one- I can see it in a boy’s room, for sure. It has a very nautical feel to it.
Remember for all the details on color, paint, primer, etc, head over to the DIY Club!

Let’s see what you have got this week!
RULES
1. Your link MUST be furniture- a complete project!  No crafts!
2. No etsy shops or the like.
3. Must be a follower here.
4. Must add my button or text link to your post or sidebar.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about your baby going into kindergarten, mine is too! I’m happy about having more time, but it’s crazy to think about. I don’t want my kids to grow up 🙁 – that dresser is adorable by the way!!

Cassie dark blue is the new black, seriously. I’m smack in the middle of doing our nightstands BLUE, hubby just about had a heart attack after the first coat went on but all will be well in the end. Your dresser is Shakeriffic in a cool smoky blue way, I’m heading over to DIY to check the details, nicely done.

Beautiful dresser! My baby still has another year to go before Kindergarten. It will be hard…but I will also freely admit that I love the two hours twice a week when she’s in preschool and I can go places BY MYSELF! It’s especially nice after a lot of years of homeschooling 😉

Piece of Work Wednesday Furniture Link Party Number 36!

May 17, 2011 by Cassie 22 Comments

Well, this week is going by too fast and I am finishing up last minute projects for Lucketts.  Today wias spent at gymnastics (for Emmy, not me!)

After that it was off to Jo-ann Fabrics to pick up some more supplies because I found an awesome vintage sheet and had lots of buntings to sew today.  I think I made 10, but who’s counting?  Then I had to make and decorate cupcakes for Emmy’s last day of school tomorrow, get teacher gifts ready, and then it is off to muscle pump in a bit.   This whole week is insane even without the Lucketts fair this weekend!

Anyhow, Andi purchased this table a while ago from her thrift shop.  She decided she couldn’t use it and gave it to me. Thanks, Andi!  It had a design on top which made it the perfect piece for chalkboard paint, and it also is the perfect size to be a kids play table.  I was hoping to find a couple of little kids chairs, but no such luck!  Here is the before…

I painted the body with Benjamin Moore’s platinum gray in aura paint, and painted the center with chalkboard paint.  I lightly distressed it, and voila!  It’s ready for playtime!

What have you been up to?
Here are the RULES:
1. Furniture makeovers or builds only.  Complete projects please.
2. No etsy shops or the like.
3. Link to your specific post and not just to your blog.
4. Place my button in your sidebar or post.
5. Must be a new project to POWW.  Doesn’t have to be new to you, just new to partygoers here!

That’s it!  Shake it fast… Show me what you’re working with…
