Piece of Work Wednesday Link Party Number 9!

It’s that time of the week! Time to show off the fabulous furniture makeovers you have been working on this past week.  I have a Swedish inspired dresser to share with you today.  I bought this beautiful solid mahogany dresser off my buddy Craig for $30.  (Pardon its post sanding, wiped down appearance!)

It had loads of wear and tear, scratches, stickers, but overall functioned beautifully and was solid and had nice details.  I decided to paint it gray and I used my Benjamin Moore Aura paint/primer in one in Platinum Gray.  Because I had to sand some spots down further to rid it if scratches, there was quite a bit of bleeding on the drawers.  I decided to add a coat of Kilz to the drawers.  And then what do you kow… I liked the look of the gray body with white drawers!  So I ended up painting the drawers with a mistint white from Benjamin Moore that is actually called Diamond White.  Once it was all painted, I distressed all the edges, and details and gave it all a wash of Dune Gray stain by cabot- it’s more of a sandy gray.  The original hardware was fabulous, so it went right back on.  And here is the final product!

Now, let’s see what you have been up to!

Thanks for another great party! And thanks for another beautiful dresser to admire and covet!! We have a dresser that was given to us and I am just thinking we need to two tone it like this. I saw a little nightstand over at the Lettered Cottage today in the same type of finish and I am kinda loving them! Hopefully we will come up with something has beautiful as yours!

Too funny…I have done so many pieces where I started with one thing in mind, then went a totally different direction 1/2 way thru.

Definitely digging the two toned effect with the dark hardware. Awesomeness.

Hey, I picked up some foam brushes and will be attempting to put a top coat on my son’s furniture I spray painted today. Wish me luck!

I am loving the gray! I have an end table that I’m thinking might go gray. Does gray sell well for you? I’m redoing it to try to sell. I’d love to know what colors you think sell best.

I have no furniture to share, can I share all the pieces in the garage sitting waiting for a makeover? Just kidding. Enjoy your day!
