POWW 81: A Furniture Link Party

Happy POWW!  I hope you are here to share your latest and greatest furniture project today!  I have been trucking away working on Sawyer’s room so I have a little makeover today that was done for his room.  You may recall last week I gave you a little sneak peek of his room….

See those chairs with that table?  Well only the green chair stayed, and I made over two of our old playroom chairs to go in his room.  Here they are in the old playroom at our old house….

Two of those chairs went to Emmy’s room (the spindly ones) and the other two went to Sawyer’s room.  The two that went to his room have a more masculine shape, which was perfect.  However, the turquoise green color was not working in his room as it did in Emmy’s.  They needed a paint job!  Oh, and as a sidenote, We still have that table in our new playroom at this house- I just found some new vintage chairs I will share with you one of these days.

Anyhow, I had red high gloss oil based paint left over from my gold leafed nightstands, and I knew that would be perfect in his room.  I sanded them down, and gave them 4 coats of the red paint, allowing 24 hours to dry between coats.  Oil based paint is not great for the impatient painter, but it gives the most durable finish- perfect for a 6 year old boy!  Here they are now….

That is much better for his room!  He and Emmy love to sit here and color together.  Sawyer wants me to paint the green chair “all green”.  He doesn’t like the chippy look which makes me love the green chair even more.  So I will tell you what I told him- “We’ll see.”
I am sharing here:

So let’s see what you have been working on!
Please remember the rules!

Shazam! I am bowing down to your “patient” painting skills, girl! I have still not reached the “patient painter” level, Sensei, but will work hard to attain nirvana so that I, too, can walk among the painting gods as with you.

Ugg…four coats over 4 days! Lots of work. But you are correct, they will be close to indestructible. Have a great linky party! As you know… I got nothing for ya!

Cassie – It cracks me up that Sawyer wanted you to make it all green. It sounds like something my husband would say! He just doesn’t understand the aged/vintage look and it cracks me up!

I wouldn’t want to ever leave that room if I was Sawyer. The fact that he gave his own design just means you have been teaching him well and that he has been listening! 🙂

Love those chairs, I want to come color with them, I love coloring! The chippy green chair does look fabulous but I can see a boy not digging that look so much. Excited to see the rest of the room! I am off to spray paint, hope I don’t get blown away by this wind!

Love the glossy red chairs! And Sawyer is too funny with the “all green” comment. He and my mother-in-law would get along great. She doesn’t like chippy either. And believe me, she lets me know that on a regular basis! … Looking forward to more of Sawyer’s room, especially the red chevron fabric!

As always – love your party – but I had to comment on your ‘We’ll see’. This was my answer to everything (too often it would seem!) until my daughter started using it on me… she tells me ‘we’ll see’ about everything!! Her most recent was after asking if Santa will be coming with the easter bunny. I said no, Santa comes at Christmas, in December. And what was her answer? ‘mmmm we’ll see’!

Hope you’re having a great week!
