POWW 96

Happy Tuesday!  I hope your week is off to a good start.  The kids are each in camp this week in the mornings- Sawyer at soccer camp and Emmy at gymnastics camp.  After being on vacation and not yet having had a break from one another all summer, I think this week will be very good for them.  And me and my sanity!!

I thought I would share with you a table I did a month or so ago. I bought this table when Gwen was with me in May.  I got it with 3 chairs at a yard sale for a total of $25.

You may recall, I shared the complete chairs already: here and here.

The table had a gorgeous shape, but the top was covered in formica.  The legs were made of a combination of cast iron and wood.  I thought it was the perfect piece for some DIY chalk paint since I needed great adhesion.  I apparently forgot to take a true before picture, but you can sorta see it behind the chairs there…. see? Just crane your neck… yep, there it is!

Pin

I mixed up a couple colors I had on hand…. mostly Benjamin Moore Yarmouth Blue with Wedgewood gray, and added a mixture of water and plaster of paris to my paint.  I gave the table two coats, distressed it by hand, and then went over it with Minwax Golden Oak to warm and age it a bit.  Then I went over all of it with Minwax paste wax for protection.  And here is the final result….

The woman who bought it was SO sweet- she said she had been looking for something just like it and was thrilled.  She even sent me a picture of it in what she called her “dream dining room”.  Doesn’t it look perfect?!

Love the fact that you shared the table in it’s final destination. We don’t get to see that very often for items that are sold. Neat.

Cass- I have those exact same chairs with the golden seat. I painted mine white and added a feed sack cushion! Your table came out great- I am looking for a similiar pedestal table for my kitchen. Did my link go through for the Swiss Army? I always seem to have trouble linking up here! Maybe you have it on modification? Let me know if I need to do it again, and thank for hosting!

    Hi Cassie,

Inspired by the butterfly bed you did a while back … being very resourceful and using existing supplies, I decided to tackle my foyer and existing furniture. So its only “proper” that I share my results here and thank you for the inspiration and hosting this party. And I have another furniture piece or two in the works … so you kicked me into gear girl! Thanks again.
