Sorry I am late in getting these posted! We have had a very busy couple of days! Friday Sawyer was off from school, so the kids played and I took them for a drive through Catoctin Mountain Park which was stunning and glowing with all the Fall colors! And to be perfectly honest, I HAD TO TAKE THE DRIVE to get out of the house…. it was one of those days where things were breaking and going wrong (all fixed now), but I knew I needed to just walk away. And the drive certainly helped, but set our day a little off track.
After a late lunch, I took the kids to South Mountain Creamery for calf-feeding time! And let me tell you, the calf we fed was a little wild! It was hilarious, disgusting, and fun all at the same time! And yes, Sawyer is wearing the fireman hat he got in school last week. He wore it everywhere yesterday- the park, the grocery store, the creamery….
The bottle was large and a little heavy for Emmy…
Here are two calves making sure they got the last of the milk off each other’s mouths!
And this was a sight to see- the teeniest piglets I have ever seen!!! (And yes some of he biggest nipples, too!)
Chris and I ended the day with a homemade soup… I cooked! I am not much of a cook. I can cook, I just don’t love it. Well I came across this recipe for Italian Wedding Soup at Chocolate Sundaes, which featured a roundup of great soups. I had just purchased some organic sundried tomato and basil chicken sausage at the store, so I substituted that for the meatballs, and it was delicious! And easy! Like I said, I don’t cook much, so I was impressed with myself and felt very domestic! ๐ We had leftovers tonight and decided the second night around was better as the flavors had more of a chance to blend.
Today was spent at Sawyer’s soccer game, which Gramma and Papa drove in to see. They stayed to spend some time with the family, and the kids couldn’t have been happier! After that, Chris and I worked on some home projects which I hope to share this week.
Tomorrow Chris picks up a new QUEEN sized headboard for our guest room! And it is pretty. ๐ We also have some of our best friends visiting for lunch!
So all in all, a crazy busy weekend here at the Bustamante household, but a wonderful one filled with activity, fun, learning experiences, friends, family, and some DIY.
Speaking of DIY, let’s check out this week’s POWW faves!
