POWW Faves & March Before

March 3, 2012 by Cassie 30 Comments

Happy Saturday!  I am so glad the weekend is here!  Last night we went to our neighbor’s “Family Fun Night.”  The theme was “Irish”, so I brought over a pinterest recipe for “Irish Nachos”.  Basically it’s a nacho recipe using potatoes instead of nachos… YUM.  Today I plan to work on Emmy’s room as weather won’t allow much work outside.  Tomorrow I am off to see Heather and Cora, and I can’t wait!!

Before I get to the faves I wanted to take a moment to say a big fat thank you to Apartment Therapy for featuring my peacock sideboard. Apparently however it was quite a controversial piece and several people liked the before better.  Oh well, you can’t win them all, can you!  I love it, and it’s going to its new home today, so clearly I am not alone on this.

Another awesome week here at POWW!  Here are just a few that grabbed my attention.

I love the “ombre” look that Jamie at The Creative Imperative achieved with her little side table… isn’t it gorgeous?  And how bout that chalkboard wall, huh?  Yeah.

And Allison from Fab Rehab continues to knock them out–I am a fan.  Love this sideboard, and it was a true labor of love.

How fun is this Canadian flag dresser from Kirb Appeal, eh?  (Had to do it!)

The Junk in Our Trunks shared this AWESOME fire department dresser!  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

You guys killed me with your awesome graphics this week…. I also loved this dresser from Never a Dull Day.  It’s beautiful!
Pin
Anneke from Rustic Chic shared this armoire that I want!  I have been looking for something like it for my master bedroom and have had no luck!  Ship it this way, friend!
Pin
And finally, Julia from 551 East shared a fabulous moody blue dresser…. Oh I love the moody blues!

Also, it’s time for my friend Lisa’s monthly before party!  The after comes at the end of the month.  This month I am HOPING to get Emmy’s room pretty close to being done… we shall see!  To make it even more dramatic, I am going to share a before from move in week last Fall….

This is going to be so fun!

What? I LOVE the peacock blue! It has that pop of color that every house needs! But there are the purists out there and I get it. But I love color on furniture.

Cassie, I wanted to tell you that your POWWs have inspired me to start rethinking all sorts of furniture in my house. Truly – things I’ve been trying to sell on Craigslist have been given a makeover and I’m back in love with them thanks to you and all your awesome and talented POWW participants.
Thanks for linking up Emmy’s room….can’t wait to see how that comes along!

Those AT readers are brutal! I liked how some of them acted like you were the first person to paint a piece of wood furniture.

Congrats on your AT feature… I’ve always loved the peacock blue!

Thanks again for your feature last week of our desk restoration – I’m pretty sure you’re the reason that desk ended up on AT as well!

Oh those people on AT obviously don’t know what great stuff is, I mean for real. I LOVE that color blue and pretty much anything you do is amazing. Maybe I need to go comment and stir the poop with a paddle. Lol! Love the features this week too, wow, people are creative! Looking forward to seeing what you do with Emmy’s room, I’m sure it will be great.

I agree that commenters on AT are brutal. I think some disagree just to be mean. I wouldn’t think anything of it, its a beautiful piece.

Well, I thought your peacock sideboard was fabulous! Lucky person who is getting that piece to show off in their home! How is little Cora doing? That’sll be a nice day tomorrow visiting with them. So fun to see all of the creativity in the featured pieces!

Same thing happened when Apartment Therapy featured my Anthro knock-off dresser! I think it’s funny how almost NO ONE will say not-nice things on your own blog, but if it’s picked up by another BIG website–watch out!!

P.S. Those commentors at AT, they probably don’t have the first clue about working on a piece of furniture and giving it some new life. I hate those bloggers whose sole joy in life is to pick apart someone’s work. Who made them the all mighty furniture guru’s anyway?!
