Hello, friends! Let me preface this post by saying that we all know I am no fashion blogger, but what I do offer you is a genuine perspective on real clothing on a real post-baby 40 year old body. (Now that I’ve set the bar low on my modeling skills…) I was so excited to partner with PrAna on this post. I had honestly never heard of PrAna until they reached out to me this past fall. After checking out their website, I knew their product was a great fit for me. Their brand aligns with what I believe in when it comes to fashion… comfort, style, simplicity, as well as environmental friendliness. I chose a few pieces from their fall and winter collection and wanted to share them with you. Also, I’ve got a promo code at the bottom of this post so you can get 15% off your order! (This post, PrAna: Comfortable, Cozy, Sustainable Winter Clothing, is in partnership with PrAna; I received clothing to review but was not otherwise compensated and all opinions are my own.)
As a mom on the go with three kids, I keep rather busy. The older two have activities they need to be taken to and from, and then playing with Wilder requires me to be able to get down on the floor and ground with him, pick him up and carry him, basically moving all day long. I need clothing that moves with me… basically I want to live in yoga pants but not always look like I’m in yoga pants. I selected the Kara Jean in black, and I am in LOVE with them… they truly allow me to move freely and comfortably, and are made from organic cotton. I am wearing them in all of the photos in this post.
For a little reference, I have always been a thick thighed girl and these fit me well. I am almost 5’7″, weigh around 132 lbs, and am wearing these jeans in a size 6.
As you can see, these jeans are a low rise fit, but they are not too low. (I can’t stand when my jeans slide down in the back!)
The other item you see in these photos is the Permafrost Half Zip in coal. It is sooooooo ridiculously soft and cozy and it’s made from 100% recycled polyester. I actually really loved the bone white, but with a baby who is eating solids and still spitting up, I didn’t think that white would be a safe choice; but it sure is beautiful. I selected a medium because if anything I wanted it to be a little oversized. It’s a shorter fit as well and I worried a small would be too short on me. The medium is perfect. Wilder loves to pet it, too, so that’s a bonus.
Emmy is at the age (almost 12) where she is starting to borrow some items from me, and I knew she’d love this soft hoodie, so I got her one of her own in Khaki Rose in extra small. They’re perfect for chilling on the hammock sipping hot cocoa together. Emmy wears hers all the time now and I love this grown up pink on her.
I wanted to mention a couple of the other items I selected that aren’t pictured here as well.
PrAna has a great assortment of leggings and in the winter when I am hanging out at home, you can often find me in leggings. Additionally, I get up to walk every day at 5, so I love to have leggings that will keep me warm on the cold brisk mornings. The Akiak leggings are made from recycled fabric, and are super comfortable with their high waist and thick band. I ordered these in a medium… I almost always size up to medium in leggings because of my aforementioned thick thighs.
Lastly, I also ordered the Centerpiece Wrap in mud, which is a beautiful earthy brown. Again I ordered a medium in this because I wanted a looser fit. This wrap is made from organic and recycled material, has a gorgeous washed finish that keeps it casual. It’s the perfect piece to throw on with a t-shirt and jeans, or to toss over a flannel. I also throw mine on over my pajamas in the evening and then take it off before bedtime. The forest green is also beautiful, but I always love a good earth toned neutral, especially this time of year.
As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I am not a model by any means, but I do love when I find comfortable sustainable clothing that I can feel good about as well as feel good in. If you’re looking for some new staple pieces, check out PrAna.
Aside from women’s clothing, they have an awesome men’s line, and some pretty fabulous accessories like beanies and hats which I am always a sucker for.
I think I will be adding that cutie to my own wish list this season! Go check out PrAna… I am sure you will find something for your own wish list as well.
