This post is in partnership with Grove Collaborative, but all opinions are my own. After all of the decorations have been taken down and boxed back up until the next holiday season, it feels incredible to have such a clean slate when it comes to decorating, doesn’t it? While the spaces are relatively clear of clutter, I like to take that opportunity to give my house a nice thorough cleaning. You may recall last week when I shared my plans for 2018, one of my personal goals was to focus more on detoxing my life in beauty, home, and health. For several years now I have focused on using non-toxic house cleaners, but there were still other steps that I could take to improve the impact I was having on our family’s health as well as the environment. Grove Collaborative has become my go-to resource when it comes to shopping for cleaning products.
To be honest, our local grocery store has a very limited selection, and the nearest store to purchase the items I need is around 20 minutes away. With my Grove VIP membership, I get free shipping and it’s pretty quick, too! I’ve had my favorite brands at Grove for a while, including Mrs. Meyer’s & Method, but this month I tried out the items that are currently free with your $20 purchase for all new members, and to top it off you get a 60 day free trial! (Don’t worry, if you are an existing member, there is an offer for you as well for free walnut scrubber sponges). Currently Grove is offering an adorable white metal cleaning caddy; Grove’s own cleaning concentrates including Orange & Rosemary Glass Cleaner, All-Purpose Cleaner, and Tub & Tile Cleaner; a glass spray bottle; and two microfiber cloths. This set seemed like a no brainer because it included two of the changes I keep meaning to implement but have lagged on… a reusable spray bottle as well as microfiber rags which will help me minimize my waste. To be perfectly honest, I am a terrible over-user of paper towels. I kinda want to hang my head in shame after admitting that.
I still had my Method glass cleaner and Mrs. Meyer’s all purpose cleaner to finish using, but I was out of tub and tile cleaner so that was the first one I cracked open. I apologize now because I don’t have before and after photos of Emmy’s tub which was the first place I cleaned. Emmy is a huge fan of fun bath bomb’s, so her tub is often stained pink or orange, sometimes an entire kaleidoscope of colors! The residue left behind by the bombs is a bit greasy and grimy to the touch. After mixing the orange & rosemary concentrate in my glass bottle, I sprayed the tub. I used the microfiber cloth to wipe off the icky residue and it came off easily with minimal effort on my part. When I touched the surface of the tub after cleaning, it felt as good as new and there was no lingering ick. The scent of the concentrate was super-mild which is a huge plus in my book!
Aside from the cleaning supplies mentioned, Grove Collaborative features some of my absolute must-have items for home and beauty. Again, since the grocery store nearby is really limited on what they offer in non-toxic, so having these items shipped right to my house for free is a life saver! I thought I’d share some of these essentials with you…
- Schmidt’s natural deodorant for sensitive skin- As I have gotten older, the skin in my armpits seems to be really sensitive, so much that I broke out in a really bad rash last summer. Is that TMI? Not to mention, who wants to be rubbing carcinogen’s on a place where you shave and create even more open spaces for chemicals to soak in? Gross! I bought Schmidt’s in Lavender Tips and I love the fresh lavender scent and my skin feels much better!
- Grove Collaborative eucalyptus & spearmint soy candle- this candle is absolute heaven to my nose! It’s both refreshing and relaxing and if it came in a cologne I would but it for Chris because it really does something to me. 😉
- Grove mint & argan lip balm- this is the lip balm I have been using all this winter as temps have been ridiculously cold. It’s prevented chapping and keeps my lips feeling great and looking young. (Trust me, lips can look old!)
- Essential oils- I don’t talk about this much, but I do use essential oils regularly. Some of my go-tos are tea tree oil for skin ailments, peppermint oil for headaches, and eucalyptus for relaxation as well as keeping dogs from chewing on things. Grove is a fabulous resource if you are into oils as well!
Aside from the items I have mentioned they have an amazing assortment of skin care, vitamins, baby care, greener paper products and more. I am looking forward to trying out some of their baby items when the time comes.
If you’re interested in trying out a free 60 day trial, and getting the set below for free, just place your first $20 purchase between now and Sunday, January 14th.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! I love my VIP membership and 100% (and then some!) think it’s worth it to have a home that’s clean and safe for my family. Also, I can get the kids to clean their own spaces without having to worry about what they’re inhaling. And yes, I do make my kids dust their own rooms, and often make Emmy clean her own bathroom. 🙂
