Repurposed Planters

I love reusing old items in the yard and garden. I have in my yard an old enamel topped table that is perfect as a potting bench, an old ladder for vines to climb, an old gate for a climbing rose, and an old baby walker that is perfect for a potted plant. I also have a few items that I use as planters, such as these sap buckets. I got most of them off ebay for a steal, and hung them along my fence. I love that they are different sizes and colors. I punched a few holes in the bottom of each for drainage, and also went to a local garden and picked up some plastic pots to fit the inside of each and out the plants right in those pots, then popped the pots into the buckets. I love the color they add to the fence.

And check out this cute butterfly made from an old spindle! I didn’t make it, but I love it so thought I would share! 🙂

I also have by my front door two old chairs I bought at a yard sale for $5 for both. They were totally worn, seats gone, but you can’t recreate this awesome chippiness, and I knew I had to have them! I bought plastic pots to fit in each seat hole, and planted my flowers in those pots. They add that vintage charm to the front door and make it seem warm and inviting!

love it all! I have a small back yard, but I only go out there to groom louie or to work on a project. It gets NO love or attention. If I planted flowers, they would surely die, and no one would even notice they died. lol
    Everything looks great!
love, love, love those chairs! I think I have a chair fetish.

Man, sometimes I really wish I had a fence, when I see ideas like yours. Fortunately I live in the country and have no need of that kind of fence.

I love the look of the old buckets for planters. I think I’ll have to “borrow” this idea if you don’t mind. 🙂 Great job!

    Hi Cassie-
I saw this project on the CSI link up. It caught my eye right away. I love all the delicious colors you used. They really pop against the fence.

I hope the current homeowners appreciate your sentimentality! I would’ve packed up those suckers and whisked them away!
