A Request

I don’t have the words to start this post.  I have been wondering how on Earth one helps a grieving mother, and I have not come up with any answers, except to keep sending them all my positive thoughts and prayers.
Many of you may know or know of Anna from An Inch of Gray.  When I was away in Los Angeles I heard the devastating news that her 12 year old son, Jack, had died tragically in the flooding that devastated the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Jack with his little sis
Anna and I know each other on a comment type level, and the occasional email.  When I heard the news, I was stunned.  I can not imagine the pain and devastation of a loss like that.  I immediately emailed her to ask what I could do.  She wrote back and just asked me to keep on praying.  I am doing that, and I ask that you do all the same.  But Anna also posted on her blog the other day a way that you can contribute in Jack’s honor.  If you can help in any way shape or form, or just spread the word, please do.  No mother, father, or little sister should be going through what their family is going through.
And for Anna, I found this quote which I think is beautiful and true.
“And if I go while you’re still here…

know that I live on, vibrating to adifferent measure behind a thin veil you cannot see through. Youwill not see me so you must have faith. I wait the time when we can soar again, both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to its fullest, and when you need me just whisper my name in your heart…I will be there.”~Author Unknown

Anna, please know that we are all thinking of you, praying for you.  Jack will always be in your heart, and always be in your family.  And when you need him, close your eyes and whisper his name, and I know you will feel him in your heart.  Much love to you, friend.

I read about this tragedy right after it happened and while I don’t know Anna she has been in my thoughts and prayers since. I think that it is wonderful of you to gather support for this family and I will check out the fund.

So sad, I can’t imagine what this family is going thru. Every day is a blessing and gift and its up to us to make the most of the time that we have with those that we love. I’m sure the 12 years they had with Jack are filled with wonderful memories but now their days are also filled with thoughts about the memories they had planned and hoped to have. In honor of Jack and all the others that have been lost to early we need to vow to make the most of every day and be sure to let those that we love and care about know just how much they mean to us. Will hug my babies a little tighter tomorrow and thank God for keeping them safe. Keeping this family in my thoughts and prayers.

The first thing that came to my mind is a song that was sung at my cousin’s funeral, she was 10 when she died. Her parents said this was a help to them. “Just think of stepping of on shore…and finding it heaven. Of touching a hand..and find its God’s. Of breathing new air, and find it celestial. Of waking up in Glory…and finding it Home.” My cousin said when she thought of her daughter she thought of her walking hand in hand with God, that she had no more pain, and she would be happy in Heaven. Its not much here on this earth. I cannot begin to imagine their pain. My prayers are with them.
