Retro Turquoise & Red Dresser

I bought an adorable maple dresser a couple weeks ago off crsigslist for $35.  It had very sweet lines which made me think it would be perfect in a nursery.  This is one of the pieces I worked on last week that I forgot to take a before picture of, but it was similar in wood tone to this one and it had ugly wooden 3″ carved pulls.

So I set to work, removing the ugly pulls, filling holes, and sanding the whole piece.  Once that was done, I used my bright turquoisey “Fairytale Blue” by Benjamin Moore in the self-priming aura paint.  It took just 2 coats.  I distressed the edges, and thought about staining it as well for a more rustic feel, but when I went through my hardware, I found some red knobs I purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I loved the bright red against the bright blue, and thought the antique effect might not work as well with the red knobs.  And red and turquoise is one of those classic retro color combinations.   What do you think?

I see this one in a white walled room, with lots of bright, fun accents!  Hopefully it will go to a new home soon!

Ooooh, I love it! The red knobs really add some great POP to the piece. And I agree it would look so cute in a nursery (maybe even as a changing table)! I’m sure some lucky family will snatch it up quickly 🙂

This looks so great with the red knobs! So fun to pick out knobs and Hobby Lobby when they are 50% off! I constantly watch for their sales and then stock up! I am sure this piece will be gone in no time!
