As you might know by now through the DIY products I use and the recipes I have occasionally shared, I am environmentally conscious and care a lot about the safety of the products I use as well as the foods I consume. There is so much available information when it comes to the foods we eat as well as the cleaning and DIY products we use that it’s a bit easier to eat clean and take care of a home with low VOC products and natural items including essential oils. However, when it comes to self care, there isn’t as much easily accessible information on line. Over the past year I’ve been doing my own research, and came across Beautycounter through a couple of friends, and I love what this company stands for. Did you know that in Europe there are over 1500 chemicals banned from self-care products, 800 in Canada and 11 in the US. ELEVEN?!?!? What? Beautycounter is a progressive company that internally bans the use of toxins in their products and is currently lobbying for change in the US to ban toxins across the board so that we have a healthier, safer, happier society! You can see the full list of the items they never use here; additionally, they never test on animals!
Now you know what the company stands for, but let’s talk about the REALLY important stuff, shall we? RESULTS. It’s one thing to use natural and safe products, but heck, I know it’s important to be happy with how we look and feel, too! I’ve tried so many things over the last year, and nothing has worked as quickly and effectively as the products I’ve tried from Beautycounter. I was very much against selling any kind of product, because it has never felt right to me, but this company is something I believe in and can stand for 100% and I wanted to be part of that movement. Let me get into the specifics of what has worked for me so well and so quickly….
This entire pregnancy has had my forehead breaking out like volcanic islands, one erupting after another with no end in sight! When one would go, two more would pop up. I spot treated with the balancing & charcoal mask once, and in addition used the charcoal cleansing bar daily on my face, and my forehead cleared up in the matter of a few days. I have since been using the cleansing bar daily and have had no more breakouts. The activated charcoal in the soap draws out toxins without drying the skin.
Another area where I have noticed a huge difference is in the wrinkles around my eyes, on my forehead, and the stubborn line right between my eyes. I’ve been religiously using the rejuvenating line for daily eye and moisture care, but the speed of that process was aided incredibly when I began using the plumping line, especially the oil! Right after I get out of the shower, or at night when I wash my face, the first thing I do after patting my face dry is drop one drop of oil on my forehead, one on the crease between my eyes, and one on the outside of each eye. I then rub it in and continue to use my other moisturizers. If it’s before bed time, I use the rejuvenating night cream, but in the morning I use the daily cream. If it’s in the morning, I also add a spritz of the plumping facial mist after applying my makeup and that helps with the wrinkles as well as gives me a bit of a natural dewy look I prefer. I swore after just a week that I was noticing a difference, so I took to the people who are the most brutally honest with me, Emmy & Chris. Emmy told me she could barely see the line between my eyes (which the stinker has pointed out before!) and Chris, who was a total naysayer when I wanted to start being a Beautycounter consultant told me he could see a difference around my eyes, especially the infamous “crow’s feet” area.
Now, I don’t have a before photo for you, but I took an embarrassing selfie to show you my current state, and plan to update as more progress happens.. This photo was taken after using these products for just over a week. In this photo, I have concealer on the age spots on the outside of my face (my next victim!), a little blush and mascara, but that’s it! And I did spray the plumping mist after applying those. This photo is completely unedited, but do you see how clear my forehead is???? Just a week and a half before this, it was covered in zits.
Those are my own personal experiences, but I also have heard of many others with positive results on other issues. Wrinkles and acne were my main issues…. quite the combination, I know!
