Seabrook Island, Here I Come! But First, Let Me Get Some Projects Done!

Tomorrow is the big day where I will be heading to the beach with my kids…. 9 hours in the car with just me, Sawyer, Emmy, good movies, good music, good snacks, and hopefully no tears (from them or me!).  But I couldn’t leave without getting some projects done first!  My shower curtain for me new blue danube bathroom has not yet come in. It shoudl be here tomorrow, so at least I know I will have something fun to show you when I return! For now, I have a couple small changes to show you.

We have a very narrow hallway in the upstairs of our home that leads to all the bedrooms.  At the end of the hallway there is a very small wall which looks empty with nothing, but with furniture there is a little crowded because Sawyer’s door is right there.  For a while, I have had this narrow vintage child’s hutch there…

It was cute, but frankly, it served no purpose.  It stored nothing that we needed stored there.  I decided I needed to declutter and get it out of the way and just hang a mirror.  I tried two…
I found this one at the Salvation Army and loved the faux bamboo look of it.

And just to show you where the end of the hallway is in relation to Sawyer’s door…

Then I tried this one and the style and scale were perfect, but something was missing….

So I decided to paint the wall a nice dark gray, using leftover Rocky Coast from our family room makeover.  And I like it much better!  But, it will be changing a little more in the next month or so.  I will give you a hint.  It starts with “st” and rhymes with pencil.

10 points if you can name that white butt in the photo!

It’s Jake, my Wonder-Bagel (basset-beagle mix)!

The other little project I have been working on is adding a gallery wall to Emmy’s room.  I have ordered a couple fun prints, and had the fun framed “lucky girl” wuilt piece my mom made.  And I have to send a HUGE thank you to Cassie at Hi Sugarplum! for directiing me towards these fabulous Suzy Ultman prints! You can get an entire book of her prints for less than $20 at Amazon! I ordered the book and just chose a couple of the 12″ x 16″ prints framed in IKEA Ribba frames for her wall.  Thank you sooo much, Cassie, for the awesome tip!  I have more larger prints and I have a couple other places in my home I may use them!  So cute and fun!  Oh, and the little bird over Emmy’s bed is also new- It was a gold syroco piece I found at Goodwill for $2 and painted white.

And that’s what I have been working on while I should have been packing. 🙂

Have a great time, Cassie! Wishing you a tear free journey! Thank goodness for dvd players. Never leave home without them 🙂

Your hallway looks great! I’m not really into Feng Shui but I’ve heard that a mirror at the end of a hallway creates harmony. Okay, listen to me, I’m not into it and I’m telling you about it…LOL!

    Awesome prints! Love them!

    Safe travels!

The hall looks great! Are you going to do a trellis pattern? And those prints are adorable! I’m going to have to get that book. My daughter would love those for her baby’s nursery.
