Seen, Heard and Tasted: Links for your Weekend

Happy Friday!  It’s been a fantastic week at our house… life is good and I can’t wait to soon share all of the exciting things going on.  For today I wanted to share some links of things I have seen, heard, and tasted over the past week, as well as some recent interviews I’ve done.

Seen: Alice always wows me with her unique and comfortable style.  Her home is the coziest each Fall, and I want to move right into her photos.  She recently added some bentwoods and a new amazing light fixture to her dining room, and the whole situation had me drooling.  (Please pin from original source).

Heard: Emmy just started learning to play the cello at school, and has been practicing each night.  As of now, she loves it, and I’ve discovered I love listening to the cello.  In looking for some inspiring music for her, we came across Brooklyn Duo, a pianist and cellist who play current music.  We’ve downloaded a few of their albums from iTunes, and this song is one of our favorites.

I hosted a brunch at my house yesterday and we listened to this and it was perfect background music and several of my friends commented on how lovely it was.  And it helped mask the sounds of my dogs barking like crazy.

Tasted: Speaking of brunch, I made a couple of cleaner eating quick breads- a pumpkin chocolate chip bread as well as a banana bread.  It was officially the first day of Fall, so I figured it was time to break out some pumpkin something… right?  I was patient.banana-pumpkin-breadPinThe pumpkin chocolate chip bread was a recipe I found on Nesting with Grace.  Brooke made hers in a bundt pan, but I used a regular loaf pan and just baked it for about 10 more minutes as it was thicker this way. The gluten free banana bread recipe I used was good, but not great.  I love the texture but I think the agave gave it a unique flavor… so I may try another natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup next time.  I also made egg cups with eggs from our chickens and homemade peach salsa with farmer’s market produce and tomatoes from our garden.  I added a little cottage cheese as well, and they were delicious!

And finally, I’ve been very fortunate to have been interviewed by three of my favorite ladies lately!  You can find my thoughts on blogging at Charlotte’s, my thoughts on owning a business at Wendy’s, and more about creativity and furniture makeovers at Suzanne’s.

Well, the kids are out today so we are headed off to hike with some friends this morning. Have a wonderful weekend!

I need to try to make some healthier quick breads for Lilly but first I need to find a new yummy recipe for her birthday cake. You know I hate baking 😉 Have fun hiking.

I loved it all, but I’m really curious about the coffee you served. What kind was it? I raved about it to my husband.

Have you ever heard of Vitamin String Quartet? My husband is a big fan. They remake popular music into classical. They have an entire Queen album and I think they have Michael Jackson….

Hi Emy! It was Dunkin Donuts… the only one I really brew at home minus some rare occasions. I grew up in Massachusetts where it’s from and I ust love it! I will have to check out Vitamin String. Thanks for that!

Friends tap our trees for syrup each spring and keep us stocked with maple, but I never think to cook with it. I’ll kick it up a notch and if I discover an amazing recipe conversion I will let you know.

If you want more cello inspiration, check out The Piano Guys. They have some amazing music (and music videos). Not a sponseror – just a huge fan. ☺

ooh, that dining room is so good! I’m very curious about the cello music….I’ll have to give it a listen later (right now I can hear Dora the Explorer and Milo practicing piano already, so it’s not the best time ;))
