A Silent Auctioned Piece for Breast Cancer Research HERE and NOW: And I Heart Chalk Paint!

A week or so ago, I received an email from a stockist for Annie Sloan’s chalk paint. She had seen my blog and seen that I was running in the Race for the Cure. She wanted to send me a can of the chalk paint in Henrietta, a beautiful pink color, and asked that I use it to paint a piece and sell the piece and donate all money from its sale to Susan G Komen. See, she has a neighbor and friend who has been fighting breast cancer for a few years. I was ecstatic- if course I would! I told her I was thrilled to be able to try the paint, and even happier to do it in the name of a good cause! When my paint arrived, she had also been so kind as to send me a can of Greek Blue, which I had mentioned looked like a beautiful color- how fun!  Now, chalk paint has been the buzz of the furniture painting blog world lately.  I couldn’t wait to open my cans and put them to use!

I started with a coffee table and used the Greek Blue.   Here’s an upside down before shot (it was being glued!)

Pin

Here is the beautiful Greek Blue… love it!

As the company tells you, you can paint without priming or sanding.  WOW.  What a huge time and effort saver!!!!  Here it is after just one coat.

Pin

And here it is after two coats, lightly distressed.  The company is out of the wax they sell to use with it, so I finished it with Johnson’s paste wax, and it feels so silky smooth now!

Now onto the auction part, and this is where you come in!  I bought this vanity for the cause because its legs are removeable and it is lightweight, meaning I CAN SHIP IT via UPS ground!!!!  So after the pictures, I will share how this auction will work.

Pin

And here it is in its new Henrietta pink.  It’s a beautiful color, a soft pink with a hint of lilac.  I added a sea glass colored knob, and lined the drawer with a floral liner.

This gorgeous rustic meets shabby chic vanity can be yours, with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen Foundation’s Race for the Cure.

Here are the specifics:  This vanity measures 34″w x 29.5″h x 18″d.  It is made of pine, and very rustic, painted a soft pink and given a distressed finish.  Shipping will be $40 (if it costs less than that, I will reimburse the difference, and if it costs more than that, I will cover it.)  To place a bid on this piece, email me at [email protected].  Opening bid is $25, and I will keep bidding open through Tuesday, April 26th at 8 pm EST, and I will update each day as bids come in so that you will know what the highest bid is up to.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help spread the word about this auction!  All money from the sale of this vanity goes directly to Susan G. Komen.  I need as many bids as possible, and I need your help to get there!  Thank you so much for your time and help!

How nice of you to help raise money for a cure! Love the pink color and your distressing is beautiful.

The people who sell that chalk paint really are genious in the marketing field to get so many bloggers to talk about their product. It’s amazing how popular it has become in such a short time.

Nice work, Cassie! I really like the seaglass knob with the pink. My aunt had breast cancer, and my family did a half marathon to raise $. Makes stuff like running and painting furniture a little more rewarding!

Both pieces are stunning. Ive been wanting to try this paint aswell. It is all the rage in blogland right now. After seeing the pink(my favorite color) i really wanna try it for sure. After seeing the coffee table upside down, i was thinking, “Im not so weird after all, someone else does turn tables upside down first to paint the legs”. Then u stated that it was being glued, lol i went right back to thinking that i am weird after all…..lol……Bonnie
