Summer To-Do

We have officially kicked off summer at our house!  Saturday we spent the evening cooking out at our neighbor’s and spending time sitting around a fie outside, roasting marshmallows and catching fireflies.  Sunday evening we finished off the dance season with Emmy’s dance recital.  She did a fabulous job, smiled the whole time, and melted my heart and made me a proud mama!  I will have more pictures when I get them from my photographer (Hi, Dad!), but for now here are a couple I snapped backstage while the girls were getting ready to go on.

She made us all so proud!

Today though, today is what I consider the first official day of break because it would normally be a school day. We did not make any plans…. we are going to relax and lay low after a busy weekend!

Summer around here means there may be less projects happening as I am spending more time with my kiddos, but I do have a few items I want to tick off my list.

1. Paint the master bedroom.
Right now it looks like this (although the rug has been scooted under the bed and the quilt is folded at the bottom).

And I am seeing something like this in my head….

love the colors from the nesting game

2. Paint the kids vanity side of the bathroom (Our vanities are separate, joined in the middle at the bath/toilet area).  It looks like this:

This is the kids side, so I want to make it fun.  Some of the things I like…

colors for kids bath from at the picket fence

I definitely want to bring in some orange and aqua, but not yet sure of the actual placement of colors.

3. Set up an outdoor dining area.  I am on the hunt for a long farm table to put on our porch for an outdoor dining are.  Once I find that I can really get the ball rolling.  Here are some spaces that have caught my eye….

Love!!

So if I can find the table, I will get the ball rolling on that, but who knows?

That’s all I am committing myself to, and who knows if it will all even happen.  It’s summertime, people!

I am sharing at Shine Your Light Before and After Summer edition party!

So much to comment on in this post! First Emme looks darling! I didn’t realize there were costume changes too. So cute!

Second I love your inspiration pic for your bedroom. The saturated color will look fantastic!

Third your porch is PERFECT for a long farm table!

Enjoy the Summer kickoff! I have 1.5 days of K left here. Tuesday is the K graduation that will probably have me in tears.
