A long long time ago, Staples contacted me and asked me if I’d like their help in creating a home office. I didn’t actually need anything at home, but our Sweet Clover “office” (a room above the cottage behind the barn) was in desperate need of SO much to make it a usable office space. I asked them how they’d feel about working with me and my partner, Sarah, on creating a Sweet Clover office, and was thrilled when they accepted.
The Sweet Clover office space started a basic white room challenge- blank white walls, and nothing going on but lots of junk, spiderwebs, and dead stink bugs. Here’s the closest thing to a before that I have, although this was taken after Sarah and I created our plan.
We wanted a space that was usable, and reflected our personal style. We decided to stick with a black, wood, and gold color scheme and brought in vintage pieces we found, art we created as well as art and accessories from our shop, and some super stylish items from staples. Before we even began moving anything into the space, we gave it a thorough cleaning, and placed our order with Staples.
The first item we added to our cart was a pair of these ghost chairs. I had no idea Staples even carried chairs like these, and was thrilled- they were perfect for our vision of the space! We also were in need of lighting. This room has one window in the door, and one window opposite that, so not much natural light. We selected these gorgeous modern black lamps. And no office is complete without a coffee maker! Since we are not there on a day to day basis, we opted for a Keurig and some K cups to go with it! Staples was kind enough to toss in an easy button, and we our kids had loads of fun playing with that!
Now, are you ready to see how it all came together? Introducing the Sweet Clover cottage office, where Sarah and I can have a cup of coffee, peruse old stacks of Domino magazines for inspiration, high five each other, and occasionally hide from customers. 😉 With the help from Staples, this truly was an easy makeover. Sarah and I always find out styles gel and our personalities complement each other so that work is less work, and more about a great partnership.
And here it is in action….
The chairs from Staples are the perfect complement to our rustic wood vintage table, and they are also comfortable! The rug is one of my old rugs from our old house- glad I held onto it!
I should mention the “Just Passion.” We purchased the letters from one of our vendors, and the saying comes from our Sweet Clover tagline: No Rules, Just Passion. We believe that decorating a home isn’t about following any rules, but following your heart and filling your home with things you love and feel a connection to or passion for.
We also brought in a credenza I found and refinished (I’ll share details another day!). It was the perfect piece to set the new Staples lamps on! Check out the gorgeous shape of these lamps– swoon! I found the wood bowl and the artwork while thrifting.
Adjacent to that we have a little seating area, with chairs I had on hand, a kilim rug I found, a bamboo mirror piece I found at the Lucketts Spring Market, and a drum table that my brother refinished and gave to me as a wedding gift. I didn’t have a place for it in my house, so I was thrilled to be able to put it to use and let it shine!
Isn’t this table so pretty?
On top of the table, a dish holds our marketing cards, and you can see our tagline at work.
We were in need of shelving as well and came across these vintage glass shelves from one of our vendors. They were the perfect size, shape, and look! We styled them with some of our office necessities (hidden in the boxes!) and some office pretties!
One accessory that repeats itself in this space is a vintage brass unicorn. Sarah and I have a little joke about a unicorn that dates back to before Sweet Clover was ever born, so we thought we’d carry that into the space to remind us to always keep things light and humorous.
And one of our vendors came across a set of etched unicorn glasses- she knew who to call…. me! Of course I wanted them! They look great on our shelves, too! I feel magical when I drink out of them, especially if they are filled with something magical, but I don’t do that on the job.
But I do drink coffee on the job, and now we have this beautiful Keurig, and Sarah found this amazing vintage brass bar cart for it to sit on.
Mmmmmmm coffee….. the nectar of the unicorns.
This Keurig makes me the perfect cup of coffee and I love that I can adjust it to brew as strong as I wish.
Now that we have this gorgeous office space, we are bound to be much more productive! Or, let’s be honest, we can sit and look at Pinterest together and drink our coffee and have a grand time– business as usual!
Sarah and I are so pleased with how it all came together! Sweet Clover feels so much more official now. 🙂
Thank you so much to Staples for sponsoring our office makeover!
