The 30 Day Thrifted Fashion Challenge Week 3
Hello friends! Welcome to another weekly recap of the #30daythriftedfashion challenge! We have just a little over one week left in this challenge, and as it comes to a close next week we’ll be celebrating with an amazing giveaway from two of my local vintage and kiddo clothing resellers. I am a person who lives for comfort, but this challenge has really made me think a little more creatively and I have been shopping thrifted differently than I was before. Once the challenge is over, I will be sharing all of the takeaways I have had as well as several thrift shopping tips. If you have any questions you’d like addressed, now is the time to drop me a comment and ask- don’t be shy! I want to help you look and feel your best in thrifted clothing. Now let’s head into this past week and check out what was worn by me and Emmy as well as some of the participants. This blog uses affiliate links.
Day 15
I love to shop for workout tops at thrift shops. (Leggings… no thank you! Gotta buy those new.) I found this Mondetta turtleneck with thumbholes, and love to wear it for winter runs and walks. I am wearing a medium, and I found it on a new to me site for selling used gear, Geartrade, in a medium as well. It’s comfortable, long, which I love, and flattering. Wilder’s Christmas PJs were thrifted as well. He doesn’t mind that the season is over. 😉
Day 16
What can I say? I like a gray and black turtleneck. This French Connection long stretchy turtleneck was found when I was pregnant with Wilder at Goodwill in Frederick, MD. I loved that it was so stretchy and long that I was able to wear it for much of my pregnancy, but still works now as well. It’s so comfortable, the fit is flattering, and it’s a great brand! I am wearing a Medium here, but I found similar on Poshmark in a large, medium, medium, and several more here.
Day 17
This shirt was a favorite find from a Hilton Head thrift shop called St. Francis which was AMAZING. Their prices were fabulous and it was run by women who were of a different demographic so the “designer section” was brands like Chiccos and Talbots, but I found this and another top that are both Nordstrom and Anthropologie brands in the regular section. I am wearing a medium and it’s a little big in the sleeves, but for $3, I am making it work! It’s a loose fit, so I think it’s fine as is. I found similar on poshmark in a large, extra small, and you can search others by this brand here. I paired this top with my black James Jeans I raved about last week, a hat I bought with a store credit years ago, and brown boots that are 8 years old.
Day 18
Emmy found this classic Mickey Mouse sweatshirt at a yard sale last summer and loved it. It’s got a vintage Disney vibe that she adores. She paired it with her favorite skinny jeans, and I made the exception for her to wear something new because my mom and dad bought her these glitter Doc Martens for her birthday and we were out celebrating when she wore them.
Day 19
Maybe I am laughing here because I swore I would never ever ever in my life wear Abercrombie & Fitch again. Chris and I worked together there when I was a senior in college and he was a manager. I was his intern then his assistant, until I was moved to another store because we couldn’t date. Scandalous! It was honestly a draining company to work for, and they viewed us all as expendable and didn’t care about people at all. They only cared about their image. I pretty much swore them off, but I do recognize that they have cute clothing and if we find it second hand, well, OK. Emmy found this adorable white ruffled sweatshirt in a size medium and held it up for me at our local Goodwill. I loved it- simple, neutral, but a little fun detail. Sold! I found similar on poshmark here: white L, gray S, gray L, gray M, white L, gray M.
I paired it with my old J. Crew matchstick jeans, a hat Chris wore for Halloween when he worked at Hot Topic years ago, and my red Chucks. And I sat in front of the teepee for a photo though I am not sure why.
Day 20
Maybe you’ve noticed a trend…. Emmy loves sweatshirts! We found this cute comfy hoodie at our local Goodwill. It’s made by Target brand Zoe & Liv and Emmy is wearing an XS. We love Target clothing, but in our efforts to shop more socially conscious, we love to buy their fashions second hand when possible. I found the same sweatshirt on Poshmark here: medium, another medium.
Day 21
This striped sweater honestly isn’t anything super special, but it’s so soft and comfortable, machine washable, and a great basic. I found a similar one here in black and white.
Next week I will be sharing 9 more outfits on Friday as it will be the last of the challenge. I’ve also got an amazing giveaway coming to instagram to celebrate, so stay tuned for that!
