Hello friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Ours was super productive on the house front with Christmas decorating I will be sharing soon, and progress on our kitchen. I don’t want to jinx anything, but we are actually FINALLY close to being finished with our renovation! I also finally bribed Emmy into cleaning her room so that I could take some photos and share with you the new Hunter fan we installed last weekend. All it took was getting her a new monthly calendar stamp. 😉 Earlier this month I showed you Wilder’s new ceiling fan which is perfect for a small space, and in Emmys room we had a little more space to work. I let her peruse the Hunter Fan Company website so that she could select from the many cool ceiling fans they have. I had a few that I personally loved, and thankfully, she ended up selecting one of those, the Hunter Copper Norden, which is the perfect ceiling fan for a teen girl’s bedroom. This fan is beautiful, but also flows well with the rest of our home and our blush accents throughout. We’re ecstatic with how this one piece took her room to a totally new level. Thank you so much to Hunter Fan Company for providing this fan. I was not otherwise compensated. This post contains affiliate links.
We were fortunate that we actually liked the paint color already on Emmy’s walls when we moved in last January, and we moved into this house with a clear vision of what she wanted for her room. Because of that, her room was relatively easy to set up from the beginning. However, as with Wilder’s room, when I shared her bedroom, I would crop out the disgusting fixture she had in her room. When Nugget Co was here a month ago doing a photo shoot (I didn’t tell you about that- oops!), they got some awesome photos, and they shared one on their Instagram feed that showed her fan in all its glory. Their photo is beautiful, my eye can’t help but zero in on that fixture and its ugly light bulbs. Thank goodness that LED bulbs have come a long way, AND that Emmy’s new fan comes with its own built in LED bulb and I no longer have to use these!
If you remember back to when we shared her room earlier this year, Emmy created the look for her space mostly on her own and I just helped her put it together. She’s going to be 13 in January and has strong opinions on what her room should look like and I do my best to support that. When it came time to finally change out her light fixture and really complete the look of her bedroom, I wanted to let her choose the fan that she loved most. The Hunter Fan Company has so many modern and stylish ceiling fans to choose from, so she honestly struggled with which one to select but eventually settled on the Copper Norden.
I was so happy when she decided on this one- isn’t it so pretty?!? (Honestly, I don’t think she could have gone wrong with any of the fans Hunter offers.) Emmy has lots of gold in her room with the photo banner, her bed, and the hardware on her furniture; the copper finish is the perfect complement. I am a huge fan of mixing metals, especially gold and black, or gold and copper which together create great warmth.
Her bedroom is relatively neutral and soft, which is a huge change from her old bedroom. Truth be told, she still gravitates toward brightly colored objects and art, so I just remind her of the vision she had for her room. From the get go she wanted a soft, cozy, relaxing space with subtle hints of blush and mint. The Copper Norden fan is ideal for her bedroom as it has a tone to the wooden blades, and they have a soft washed feel to them.
I truly feel like this fan was just made for her bedroom! It is the perfect ceiling fan for a teenage girl’s bedroom, but I could also see it working in so many other modern neutral spaces. OIn addition to being the perfect fan for the aesthetics of her space, Emmy is thrilled that this fan offers a remote control which works the light and fan. Although she is getting older, she still doesn’t like to sleep in total darkness, so the fact that she can easily turn off her light from the comfort of her own bed is a huge plus for her. Frankly, her bed is so cozy with all of those warm and textured blankets, throws, stuffed animals, and pillows that I don’t blame her at all. I wouldn’t want to get out of that warm and snuggly bed either!
Now that we have finished this room for the most part, the winds of change are blowing through Emmy’s mind. Isn’t that the way it always goes? As we head into the new year and simultaneously she enters the teenage years, she wants to update her bedroom a bit. If you know me, you know that I embrace change, so I am not mad about it one bit. First up, we’ll be decking her halls just a tiny bit this week, and then after the holidays it will be time to get to work on making this room more efficient and a little more fun. With Emmy’s new school came new opportunities in art, and she’s really been tapping into her creativity and needs more storage and organization for all of her markers, gel pens, twin tip markets, crayons, and more. We’ve got some ideas brewing over here including shelving, wallpaper, and maybe some fun garlands. We have been really happy with the shelving we added to Sawyer’s room on a budget, so we are thinking that we’ll do the same thing in Emmy’s bedroom. One thing I do know, is that when it comes time to share those changes, I will no longer have to crop out our ceiling fan… I can be proud to show off her Hunter beauty!
