Thrift Score Thursday: Cactus Cross Stitch

It’s Thrift Score Thursday!  As much as I have recently talked about spending less time blogging, one of the things I will surely keep going is #thriftscorethursday because a) I am always hunting,  b) I love seeing what you guys find, and c) I adore my fabulous cohosts!  So here we go!thrift score thursday12PinIf you are new here, let me explain just what #thriftscorethursday is.  We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.

Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it!  And we love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!

Each week Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from For A Designer at Home,  Maggie from Maggie Overby Studios, and  once monthly a guest co-host will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.

This week I am sharing a super fun find I wanted to keep!  But in my efforts to be less hoardy I brought it to Sweet Clover for our sale.  It didn’t sell so it’s really challenging me… I know it’s in the barn so sad and lonely right now and it needs me and I think it would look great mixed into my kitchen shelves.  Or maybe just on my nightstand watching me sleep… Anyhow, wherever it lands, here it is in all of its cross stitch cactus glory!Thrift Score Thursday Cactus Cross StitchPinDo you know I used to enjoy cross stitching way back in middle school.  I actually won a blue ribbon when our grade had a cross stitch contest for art class in the 8th grade.  The assignment was to create a family tree.  I should take a picture of it for you next time I am at my parents house!  I created an oak tree complete with my family, pets included, and added my dog at the base of the tree.  Once a dog lover, always a dog lover I suppose!

Now I have a bunch of amazing features to share with you today!

Jess at Domicile37 showed off this mirror she upcycled with a tassel.  Now I am on the hunt for something I can do that with!  It’s just so fun!tst domicile37PinYou can find Jess on instagram here.

Next up, my friend Kris at Driven by Decor found herself a new friend in this pretty lady!tst drivenbydecorPinYou can find Kris on instagram here.

Jessica from House Homemade found this fab tortoiseshell trashcan and saw a planter… Love!tst househomemadePinYou can find Jessica on instagram here.

Chelc from Inside the Fox Den upcycled this awesome stair shelf and made it a jewelry organizer.  And be sure to check out her DIY watercolor and color blocked planters- I am kind of in love!
tst insidethefoxdenPinYou can find Chelc on instagram here.

Lindsey scored this wooden cactus and I am pretty sure it needs to come sit on my nightstand with my cross stitch. What say you, Lindsey?  It is available in her etsy shop and who doesn’t need a vintage wooden cactus?tst lindseymadsendesignPinYou can find Lindsey on instagram here.

Mel scored this amazing LaBarge hoofed brass console table… It just so happens I have the side table version in my guest room! tst melcovintage_torontoPinYou can find Mel on instagram here.

Rachel at Queen Patina found a pair of beautiful midcentury glazed pottery lamps.  I love the shape!tst queen_patinaPinYou can find Rachel on instagram here.

That’s all for this week!  Next week there are sure to be more of what you love here- fabulous finds!  I am stoked because I think this weekend will be my first yard sale outing of 2016.  I can’t wait! ATM get ready, because I am coming for you!

Now visit my cohosts to see their finds and features this week.Thrift Score Thursday Brynne color (1)Pin

Ha ha, I know how that works. I take things over to the store so they don’t clutter up my house and cross my fingers they don’t sell so I can bring them back. Probably not the best use of free enterprise. Great finds this week. I love those lamps and they would look so amazing on that brass console table.

Poor C.S. Cactus (I’ve named him) all alone in an unfamiliar place. Dark and cold. Needing love. You should probably take him home 😉

Yes, absolutely bring it home! Although you already knew where I stood on that matter! 😉 And I am *this* close to pulling the trigger on that wooden cactus… If only I hadn’t positively forbidden myself on a) bringing anything new into our home right now and b) spending money that I should be saving for planned future projects.

I totally missed that amazing staircase shelf – what a brilliant idea!

Love the little cactus! My mom used to cross stitch when I was a kid; we still have a few of the cross-stitched christmas ornaments she made 🙂
