Hi guys! It’s time for Thrift Score Thursday! If you are new here, let me explain just what #thriftscorethursday is. We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.
Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it! And we love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!
Each week Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from For A Designer at Home, Maggie from Maggie Overby Studios, and once monthly a guest co-host will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
This week, I thought it would be fun to carry out a theme… plus I needed a way to help me narrow down my choices! I’ve decided that each week moving forward I am going to be featuring 2-3 finds from instagram participants, so it’s a tougher decision now. I saw one piece that I adored, realized I had a midcentury dresser to share, too, and the theme this week sort of selected itself.
My find is a large midcentury chest I found on craigslist. The top was laminate so it was a perfect contender for paint on the body. I loved the pattern on the top drawer, so keeping the drawers wood was the right choice, too. I wanted to keep it masculine so I went with General Finishes coastal blue, and touched up the drawers with my trusty restor-a-finish. And then it was ready to head to Sweet Clover!Check out the details on that top drawer!
I really loved this piece, but no one in July loved it enough to take it home, so we’ve got it all set to go for this weekend’s even at the store. I figured I’d show you a variation in staging just for fun.
And if it still doesn’t sell, I might be sizing up some spaces in my own home.
So now, here’s the first midcentury piece I saw that set me off on this theme. Bre has such great style and she found this $40 dresser and gave it a little refreshing.Find it here on instagram.
Jo almost missed the bus to work because she saw this dresser curbside with a big fat “FREE” sign on it! I would have found a way to take it on the bus with me… I mean, it’s glorious! And should we talk about all of her other thrifted finds in this photo?Find it here on instagram.
Now make sure you hop over to see what my cohosts found and featured this week!
Have a great day, and happy hunting to you!
