It’s my favorite day of the week- Thrift Score Thursday! If you are new here, let me explain just what #thriftscorethursday is. We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.
Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it! And we love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!
Each week Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from For A Designer at Home, Maggie from Maggie Overby Studios, and once monthly a guest co-host will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
Last weekend our West Frederick farmer’s market kicked off after Emmy and I had been anxiously waiting! During the summer she and I like to hit yard sales together and then head over to the farmer’s market to shop produce and plants, and then she lives to finish end it with a personal brick oven pizza from Pinzano’s for an early lunch. It’s become one of my absolute favorite summertime traditions…. creating memories with my girl! Sometimes we bring along her best friend as well and I get to listen in on their silly and sweet conversations. Anyhow, last weekend we hit some yard sales and then headed off to the farmer’s market. We found a few small things at yard sales, and one of them was a teal painted window with no panes in it. I was hemming and hawing, and Emmy said, “Get it! It will look pretty on our table with plants in each space.” I loved that she had a vision for it, so I had to buy it. Here it is on our porch table.I really love how everything outside has come together this year.. I still have a little more to do and will share with you one day. But here’s a little peek…
The cacti on the table actually came from the market, too! They were only a few dollars each. Not bad considering they were larger than the ones you find at the garden center for much more money!
This weekend I won’t be hitting any yard sales or the market because Chris, my dad and I will be building a chicken coop! That’s right- we are finally going to get some chickens and I can’t wait. Emmy and I already have names picked out for them. I am looking forward to getting this project kicked off even if it means I sacrifice a yard sale day. My mom is going to take the kids out to the farmer’s market so they’ll still get to go and have their brick oven pizza.
