Happy Thrift Score Thursday! So sorry I missed you all last week…. If you follow me on instagram, you know it was just a busy week with kids activities, working on projects, and heading out of town to Cape Cod for a long weekend to see a friend. Something had to give, and last week it was TST. But today I am back, and I am so excited because we have our first DearTST!
But first, for those that are new hear let me tell you all about….
We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.
Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it!
Each week, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Cassie from Primitive and ProperCorinna from For My Love Of, Brynne from The Gathered Home and a weekly guest co-host will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
And this week we have special guest host Coco from The Crowned Goat back again!
But before we get to features and my own find I wanted to share our first DearTST submission which came from Dena of Hearts & Sharts.
Dena found this awesome cabinet for a steal, but she is stumped with what she should do with it. The doors are missing their glass, and it is in two pieces. Should she keep it as one piece? Should she sell the pieces separately, and just finish the bottom?
So here are my thoughts… I don’t have photoshop skills, but I will share a couple images from others that I adore.
I would keep it as one piece, and remove the doors entirely, fill their hinge holes, and style and sell it as a bookcase. I would paint it white, and possibly add a pop of fun color on the backing.
Here is a great example from In the Fun Lane of what I am referring to. Click here to see the before so you can really understand the dramatic transformation!
And of course, if Dena wanted to add a pop of color, the backing would be a great place, and really make someone’s white ware pop! Emily Clark made this look ever so popular with her beautiful painted piece in her last home.
What are your thoughts for Dena? Comment with them and give her some more ideas!
Now onto #thriftscorethursday features! This week there were so many amazing finds out there, but I decided to keep it down to just two features since this was going to be such a long post already.
My absolute favorite find came from White Dog Vintage. Check out this adorable paint by number with a bear in it! I am in love!!!!!
Isn’t it perfect? You can find Brittany of White Dog Vintage on instagram here.
Next up, Sarah Dorsey found an amazing set of 4 bertoia chairs. No, I am not jealous. Not at all. Nope. And her husband is a trooper….
You can find Sarah on instagram here!
And now onto my find! I found this little copper piggy bank at a yard sale and thought it was just the cutest!
And just check out its little curly tail!
And its sweet little face.Is that not the most fun little piggy bank? I am in love. This little piggy went weeeeeee all the way into my office (which will finally be revealed in the next couple weeks).
Now be sure to visit my cohosts to see their features and also their DearTST ideas! And remember to use #DearTST or email any one of us if you aren’t sure what to do with a find.
And remember, we would love to have YOU guest host! Just shoot me an email at [email protected] if you are interested!
You could be this girl. Or boy with braids. We don’t judge here. Thrift Score Thursday is a safe place.
In the meantime, get your hunt on and hashtag it with #thriftscorethursday or #dearTST !
