Twilight Halloween Tour

We are just a couple days away from Trick-or-Treating, ghosts and goblins, and a howling good time!  I have the fondest memories of dressing up in my homemade costumes, taking my pillowcase to fill with candy, and wandering through our New England neighborhood crunching leaves and knocking on doors.  Growing up in Massachusetts in such a quaint and charming area that really came to life in autumn really influenced my love of the season and for Halloween.  Now, I know I said I wasn’t going to be doing any blog tour hops for a while, but when my friend Heather of Southern State of Mind approached me with a “Yo, witches!” and asked me to join her in a twilight halloween tour, I couldn’t say no.  This tour is unique, purely fun, and was a chance for me to share a little more of our Halloween decor.  I decided to focus solely on our porch as I’ve changed a few things since my Halloween porch tour.  This evening, I am excited to share with you my twilight Halloween tour along with several talented bootiful bloggers; you can find the complete list of participants at the bottom of this post. (PS- My mom is a talented seamstress and made me the BEST homemade costumes… I will have to see if I can collect those years of photos to share with you one day!)

Halloween Twilight TourWelcome to our Dead & Breakfast!  We’ve got spirits and watchful eyes, ready to greet you. At the main entry door, I have stacked vintage luggage, and earlier this month they were filled with mums.  I’ve since planted the mums and replaced them with a little Pennywise inspired gnome, peeping out.  All he needs is a red balloon.

Peeping Creepy Pennywise Inspired GnomeAs the light was changing quickly outside, I turned on the porch lights for the rest of these photos… I am still learning, or perhaps just beginning to learn, when it comes to twliight photography.  After flipping them on, everything had a nice warm glow and was a little less creepy, but at least you can see now.  Here’s another look at my peeping gnome.

Stacked Luggage with peeping Gnome and Pumpkins for HalloweenIn all seriousness, our porch isn’t particularly spooky, but we certainly have fun with Halloween and have added little touches. I’ve moved all of my plants inside for the season except for my ficus tree which is too heavy to lift along.

Halloween Porch with Tree with eyesWell, it certainly sees you….

The side entry which we always use is similar to before as the bats are still flying all around my door.

I’ve also added a couple of large pumpkins, and though I did not go to the charming local pumpkin patch for them, I am happy to report they only cost $3.50 each at Aldi.  We’ll be carving those bad boys soon!

Twilight Halloween PorchA few years ago I made some ghosts to  hang from the porch using an old sheet and styrofoam balls.  I haven’t hung then the last couple of years, but decided they needed to make an appearance, or perhaps make an apparition, for this twilight tour.
