Hi guys!  Hope you all had a great weekend.  This summer is really rolling by, isn’t it?  We had a fabulous weekend at Sweet Clover.  Sarah and I have hired a manager which has been a huge help.  Yesterday she ran the show, and I was able to go for a run, go blueberry picking, weed and spread hay in the veggie garden & herb garden, and trim my knockout roses.  I also got around to taking photos of a great new to me rug I got for our guest room and I am excited to share it.  A couple of weeks ago I spoke about being fearless in the home, and to me, this vintage kilim rug in the guest room is all about stepping outside of my comfort zone.  If you look around my house, we have neutral rugs in almost every room, including the kids’ spaces.  It was about time I took a risk, and when Unique Rug Store asked me if I’d be interested in trying out one of their rugs, I jumped at the chance.  I was ready to take a leap, or magic carpet ride.

I am pretty excited with the difference this rug makes!  Do you remember what it looked like before? Here’s a little refresher…Office in a guest room- ecelectic bohemian bedroom with black wallsPinThe cream and blue rug wasn’t quite big enough so I had layered a thrifted rug and while it worked OK, it wasn’t ideal.  But I was working with what I had.  And yes, it had a little color to it, but blue… blue is my comfort zone!  When perusing Unique Rug Store, I reminded myself to be brave, be bold in my choice. Choose something wilder and more colorful, I told myself.  This room is a sea of neutral, so really anything would have worked and I wasn’t limited in my choice.   And now this space it has a rug that has pretty much all the colors, including all of my favorites…. blues, greens, mints.  But it also includes several that are unusual in my home- orange, pink, purple, red, and on one spot there’s even a pop of neon.Vintage Kilim Rug from Unique Rug StorePinAlong two of the edges it features one of my favorites… fringe!  Y’all know I love a little fringe, especially on my mantle.Fringe on ends of Vintage Kilim RugPinThis kilim certainly fits the boho vibe that I have going on in this space, too.  Of course, now I am looking at that kilim dresser I painted and thinking it may need a little makeover.  We shall see!Vintage Kilim in Guest Room; Kilim Painted DresserPinAnd the animals seem to approve…. well, the dogs aren’t allowed in here, but the brass antelope jumping the bed, and the buffalo on the pillow.Vintage Kilim Rug in Guest RoomPinSo what do you think of the bolder choice in here?Vintage Kilim Rug in Guest RoomPin

If you love it like I do, check out Unique Rug Store.  They have so many affordable and awesome choices in vintage kilims, but also carry overdyed, patchwork, and other styles, too.  You can also find them on facebook if you prefer to follow there.

The other rug was pretty but the new one really pops against the dark walls. Sometimes it really pays off to be fearless.

It’s such a beautiful choice in there!!! You know me, a neutral lover, but all the colors in the rug work so perfectly! It’s a happy rug ? I hope you have an uncomfortable mattress hiding under those bed linens, because without it you’re never going to get guests to leave!
