Vintage Sheet Wreath & My Bull Frog Doors

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!  I was given the precious gift of time to work!  It was a gorgeous day, so I started it with a long walk, and then worked outside on furniture until the clouds rolled in late afternoon.  It was glorious!

Oh, and if you want to see some video of my shenanigans with Gwen, Jill, and Andi, head over to Gwen’s blog today.  You even get to see how I eat corn.  I know- that is excitement!

Today, I am sharing a happy-vintagey-floral project over at The DIY Club!  I am sharing this simple (less than 30 minute) vintage sheet wreath….

Hey, and do you notice something else?  A new door color, maybe?
Recently I shared my desire for painting the exterior doors of my home.  Which were brown.  Like the brown trim.  And the brown shutters.  And the brown roof.  And the brown… oh wait, no the siding is yellow.  Yellow and brown.  Do I need to say what those colors make me think of?  We don’t plan on painting the exterior until the roof needs replacing because at that time we will change the overall color scheme, but for now I needed to add a little of my style to the exterior.
To refresh your memory, here is a picture of the door with the exterior colors….
Pin
We also have brown storm doors which I did not paint.  I did finally get a chance to finish painting the two doors though!  The side door that leads to the kitchen has been done for a couple weeks, but then it started to rain for a good week, and I had to wait to paint the front door.  I used a color that Dutch Boy makes called Bull Frog, but I had Sherwin Williams match it since I do not have a Dutch Boy dealer near me, and Sherwin Williams was having their 40% off sale.  I sanded the doors lightly, primed them with a water based adhesion primer, and gave each door 2 coats of paint.  I am MUCH happier with the color which suits us more and now reflects the interior a bit more.
Here is the newly painted front door…. (and please…. don’t say it…. i KNOW we will need some better exterior lights!  Boy, do I know it!)
Pin
Pin
Here is the view with it open into the house to see how it fits our space more.
Pin
This door also had a door knocker that was old and ick.
Pin
I used some gold leaf rub-n-buff to bring it back to life….
Pin
And here is the side door….
Pin
And guess what?  I painted the backside, too!  In my brown brown brown kitchen in my brown brown brown house, I needed a little happy until we redo the kitchen. 🙂
Pin
We are getting there, people.  I am making my world shinier happier, one can of paint, and one tube of rub-n-buff at a time!

I’m the same way.. change what you can until you can do everything in your dreams. My kitchen is horrible. Was.. well, still is but better. When we bought the house there was grape vine wallpaper on half the walls, the trim, and some of the ceiling (YES!). I painted over everything to calm things down until I can take a sledge hammer to it all some day. I’m about to tackle the exterior door and the two interior doors though so that’d be one less (or three) off my to-do list!

Cute wreath and Happy Mother’s Day!

Endless possibilities with a can of paint and a tube of rub n buff! Love the door color — I just pinned a similar door with a note to paint my kitchen door the same color!
    Great minds… happy Monday!

Cassie, you have totally inspired me! The outside of our front door is black and it works, but the inside is white, in a white entryway, with only wood rails and wood floors to break up the white. The inside of this door needs a color!!! Now WHICH color, hmmm?? Looks great! ~Lori

I feel amazed every time I see doors with unique colors. Well, most of the doors in our neighborhood are either black or white. Yours looks amazing! I like the fact that you didn’t have to replace it with a new one. Coating it is the key! Hehe. It looks brand new, even the door knocker. You did fantastic job, Cassie!
