Lately, I have had a hard time finding smaller pieces to work on. I can’t wait for garage sale season to start so that becomes a lot easier again. Yesterday, Sarah and I hit a couple thrift shops in the quest for small tables…. We didn’t find much, but I did find this coffee table. I loved the lines of it; those French lines get me every time!
I brought it home and worked on it right away! The top was sort of glossy, so I decided to give it a light sanding just to be sure my paint would adhere properly. I wasn’t sure which color I was going to paint it…. I thought I would stay safe and use something in the white family. But while I ate my lunch and caught up on my favorite blogs, I saw Sherry’s pictures from her recent trip to Scott’s Market. Sherry is one of my favorite designers, and if she likes something, then there is an unwritten law, that it is cool. Well, she shared this table that she loved….
Similar lines, huh? So naturally, I had to go with a similar color- I loved her find!
I painted it with two coats of Annie Sloan Provence. To finish it and give it a similarly weathered finish to the table above, I used my secret weapon. This is one of my favorites because it finishes and weathers all in one. Want to know what it is? It’s Briwax in Golden Oak from Rockler!

The above image is the clear but I used Golden Oak. I applied it with a wax brush to help create the antiqued look. Here is my own version of Sherry’s table….
Pretty close, huh? I love this color, and love it in the antiqued version. Stay tuned because I have another Briwax Golden Oak project coming this way with a little tip later this week. Or maybe next week. soon.
This table will also be available at the barn sale this weekend! Hope to see you there!
