Wedding Favor or Hostess Idea

One of my very best friends is getting married this summer. I am so happy for her, and so honored to be a part of the wedding party! I love planning for anything- babies, weddings, parties! So I was inspired and came up with an idea for her to use as favors since I know she and her fiance like wine. I suggested we make wine bottle stoppers out of old knobs, since I had a bazillion wooden knobs from refinishing so may dressers! She needed 150, so she took care of ordering the corks, and I sorted through my wooden knobs last week, got 150 out and spray painted them in 3 colors- white, yellow, and a slate blue. (I wanted navy blue or gray, but could only find them in a glossy finish and I didn’t want glossy!). The blushing bride arrived Saturday and we got to work, distressing all the knobs. Once that was done, we started putting them together. It was a lot of work to get 150 finished, but it was a pretty simple project and would also make a great hostess gift.
I purchased all-thread from the locak hardware store. If you’re not sure what that is, it looks like this….

It’s basically a long screw without a head…. just the threaded part. I wasn’t sure what sizes I would need since all the knobs would have different threading, so I purchased some 8,some 10, and some 12, and ended up needing every size. The pieces I purchased were each 3 feet long, so would need to be cut. I would find which threading fit the knob, screw the knob on, and then used my Dad’s dremel tool to cut through the threading, leaving a little less than an inch of threading showing.
Once that was done, I passed the knob onto the bride, and she screwed it into the cork. Once she was close to having it all the way in, she placed a couple beads of tacky glue in between the knob and cork, and finished screwing it on so it would be secure- glued and screwed. Here is what they ended up looking like. We were both thrilled with the outcome!

All I need to do is make some tags with the bride and groom’s names, the date of the wedding, and tie them on and they will be ready for the guests.

They are so cute and perfect for wedding favors. I can’t believe you had 150 timber knobs just lying around. You are a true re-hab tragic đŸ™‚
I can just imagine how long it would have taken to do 150. You have more patience than I do!
