What do you want, what do you want from me?

Anyone out there listen to country music?  I like some of it- not all, but some.  And the title of this post references a current hit by Jerrod Nieman.  Here are some of the lyrics of this beautiful song…

Why’d you call me today with nothing new to say,
You pretend, it’s just hello
But you know what it does to me
To see your number on the phone.

I am fully aware that there is a possibility I shouldn’t be writing this post, but I share my life and myself with you all here, so I thought, why not?  I am sending out this song to a special guy in my life, Mr. Nate Berkus.  His people called my people me, and were considering me again for a story.  I have never sent in an application- they found me through my blog somehow and contacted me both times,  so it always gets my heart pumping.  Yesterday I was told to basically pack my bags and get ready to leave Monday night to film Tuesday morning.  But today I got a call saying they decided to go with a story that was more Hollywood glam.  Do you hear that sound?  That would be the sound of my heart breaking.  Again.  Melodramatic much, why not?

So right now, I am back from teaching my third class today (two muscle pumps, and one boot camp) and I am tired, and drained, and you better believe I am having some wine!!!!

Do I think they will call again?  Honestly, I think there is a decent chance.  But next time I won’t get my hopes up.  I won’t celebrate prematurely.  And I won’t lose any sleep wondering if I will get to go.  I will keep my cool.  And I will not be surprised if I don’t get to go for the third time in a row.  And if I do ever get to be on the Nate show…. I  will throw a big old viewing party and you all will be invited!!!

So moving on from heartache, on the plus side, I have beautiful children.  I have an awesome husband.  And I have a home that maybe wasn’t good enough this time, but maybe will be next time.  And while there are so many people suffering loss in this world, I am not.  If this is the worst thing that happened to me today, then guess what?  I have it darn good.  I am lucky.  I love and I am loved.  And you know what else?  Today is NATIONAL HIGH FIVE DAY!!!  So go take a walk around the neighborhood and share some high fives with your neighbors.  Trust me, it will make you smile! (And thanks to Michelle at Ten June, I know that you should look at the person’s elbow and you will hit their hand every time during high fives!)

Happy High Five Day!

Cassie you are one of my favorite bloggers. You are so real and honest. You have followers because you are you and you never ask and don’t have to ask for them. Just like with the Nate show. You do what you do because you are good at it and you love it. You don’t do it to be recognzied and patted on the back. Because the Nate show called you and wanted you shows you have major talent. Think about it. Most people have to go begging for things like that and they called you not once but twice! I think that is worth celebration all on it’s own. I know one day you will be on that show, but for now just knowing you are talented enough for them to call your phone makes me proud to “know” you.

Remember, third time is a charm and you will have your day. My fingers are crossed for you!

It would be SO incredibly awesome if you were on the show – you deserve it because you are amazing (and I could live vicariously through you)! But how could they mess with your mind like that? They better call you back soon!

I am visiting my family in NJ this week and I keep telling my sister that we should go to the Nate Berkus taping in NYC. That’s the only way I could get to the show. Alas my Mom had to work so I didn’t have a babysitter.

My fingers are crossed for you!

Whoah… hold up a moment. These shows go around calling people to be on them then call back and tell them they changed their mind? Um am I the only one who has a tiny problem with this? Just my honest opinion but that’s total CRAP! I wouldn’t be dissapointed (and maybe this is just my peronality, I swear I should have been a red head) I would be pissed! That is bad business.
You know I just bought this darling little plaque to put on my sons desk. It’s going in his easter basket. I got it because we tell our kids this on like a daily basis. “Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is looking”. I think I will go back to Hobby Lobby and get another one to send to good ol’ Nate ๐Ÿ˜›

Oh Cassie how disappointing. We once got asked by Better Homes and Gardens to be on their show for a segment on how to replace aluminium windows with wooden ones. They asked us to scuff up our painted aluminium front windows a bit more for the before shots so we did and then they cancelled us (for a cheaper makeover)….grrrr. We still haven’t got around to repainting them properly.
    Have a lovely Easter,
    cheers Fiona

It’s going to happen Cassie but you just have to patient. Maybe they had a Hollywood glam theme going on that day which didn’t work with your vibe, so don’t feel like your work or house is not up to par!!! Who needs Hollywood glam anyway?! One time I got a call from a show called Surprise by Design, you may be too young to remember that one. I was so excited. They wanted me to do a video of my basement when I wanted to surprise my hubby with a man room. So I did all that. Yeah, I never heard back. I designed my own man room and it was pretty darn good!

“”Hollywood Glam!!!” LOL….LOL….LOL…. I totally mean this…..you had me laughing at the ridiculousness (is that a word?) of the whole story!! OMG, please tell me you see the humor in this…. They call you, get you all set to go and decide to ‘go with’ something that is COMPLETELY the opposite of YOU!?? I would get this if they had gone with something closely related, but come on. Think about your blog name and put that next to Hollywood Glam. It’s just priceless. Obviously they are all over the map on this one and probably needed to think a little more before calling you.

AND the answer your question. Yes. They will call you and you will be going back.:) The phone call alone is just simply amazing. It’s like making it into the top 24 of American Idol. So what if you don’t win, you get to experience something that not many do experience. Hang in there….

First you rock! Know that I want what is best for you and you deserve the attention for what you do. Coming from the perspective of someone who lived in L.A. and has friends in the biz, and has been kicked around by TV peeps….they are fairly heartless – they have to be…big money, big egos, etc. – and it sucks! They use us for their shows when and where it is convenient for them. Seriously I know stories of it just being a matter of who answered the phone when they called. You will get your chance. I applaud you for writing this.
