White and Gilded Faux Taxidermy, and White and Gilded Table

Happy Wednesday!  Thank you so much to all who came by and visited my home tour yesterday!  Be sure to stop by the White Buffalo Styling Co for today’s incredible line up.

Today I have a two-fer- two white and gold projects in one post.
First up, I recently found these small faux taxidermy deer at the flea market.  They were creepy in their plastic fakeness, but I knew that they had potential.

Pin

I used an oil based spray primer to prime them, and then I brushed on General Finishes Milk Paint in Snow White which is a fabulous pure white.  I applied 2 coats of paint, and allowed it to dry.  I then used a combination of my finger and a tiny brush to apply rub n buff to the antlers.  After that dried, I was ready to hang!  I kept one for myself and one for the barn.  This guy is now part of my living room gallery wall….

Here is an instagram shot from a couple weeks ago….

I just love the combination of white and gold…. do you?
You may recall this dining table I painted in gold and white...
Pin

Well, I found another table with similar legs, but it was a rectangle…. HUGE with 3 leaves!  A friend of mine who owns an amazing downtown shop, Silk and Burlap, had loved this round table.  I honestly had too many dining tables at the barn, so when I bought the new one, I asked her if she’d be interested in it for her shop.  She was!

Since it is so cold and I was working in my basement, I forgot to take a before!  I painted it exactly as I painted the prior table, but I used Snow White instead of Antique White. I again taped off the legs and added the gold with King Gold gilding wax.  Here is a little instagram sneak peek I had shared….

Pin

Then it was so cold that we hurried to get it into her vehicle.  I planned to come by two days later to take a picture.  Well, as luck would have it, the table sold from her shop in less than 24 hours to a couple who had been searching for a YEAR for the right table!  It was meant to be theirs.
Luckily, my friend snapped some phone pictures of the table set up in their shop….

And here she was showing the customer just how long it was with leaves in it…

Pin

I just love it!  Can you imagine this table all decked out for holiday entertaining!  It would be so pretty!
Well, I am off to clean the house and do some elfing of my own while my kids are finally at school today after a couple snow days.  Have a fabulous day!

If I didn’t love you so much, I would hate you because I’m extremely jealous of all the things you find – furniture, quirky items, everything. That deer is the perfect addition to the gallery wall. I love the belly pic of you too! 🙂
